We have de facto diplomatic relations. Taiwan has an Office in Italy (even two, one in Rome and one in Milano) and we have an office in Taipe. Issuing visas and so on.

China only need 30 yrs to close the gdp gap from 40x to just 1.5x of the US GDP, and China don’t need to colonized or robbed any resource from any continent to get rich either, in a competitiveness of intelligent white aren’t smarter than Chinese.
