many Chinese know nothing about the war in 1962.i got it when i was in middle school and a paragraph of no more than 200 words was about it in one of my history books(we have to learn 4 history books:China history 1 ,China history 2,World History ,Local history).and this war would never be seen in any tests.so we learned and forgot....nobody care about it

you guys have had more important things to worry about, your history with Japanese for instance, then U.S.S.R etc among others. whereas we only ever had wars with two nations. one of which was in 62, so its natural for us to accord it due importance. Not so much for you.

What do we get in return?

leverage on our Foriegn policy decision vis a vis percieved attempts by US to Box china in Asia. Remember , all anti china lobby always cites 1962 war and India lobbying for China At UN in 1950's as the reason for caution on china matters. Irrespective of what happens at the UN, China will substantially win an undecided India's support of important issues. It will be the biggest CBM.confidence buildinng measres which will course correct our policy at a crucial juncture from the chineese view point. Due to the substantial gap between India and china in terms of eco and milit power, the placement of India at UN will not alter much on ground.........This is what i will like to happen.....wish full thinking.....

but i am afraid the realists and pragmatists in China will deal with the above issue not by past prism but by leveraging it to suit their national goals which may just not give india any leverage for free in the UN. India made a big mistake by supportinng chineese claim to UN without any strategic linkage....such were the time and state of affairs......

JUST convert LOC into international border and settle the border dispute. All the other irritants in India-China relations will fall in place.

1. From China's point of view, India should maintain its independent policy and not jump into US-Japan alliance
2. From India's point of view, China should maintain neutrality in India-Pakistan relations.

Well UN security seat is not much important for India at this juncture.

If India is pro- Chinese. Than let the US know so we can top all the arms export to India and turn back all agreements,include the nuclear agreements. India better be careful of what it's doing.

one thing: China good relation with Pak, but not means China want to against India, your enemy's frind not means your enemy. and I don't think Pak and India will have big war future, and if without terrorist attacking in Mumbai, may be Pak, India.........
