December. 13 (China Military News cited from Xinhuanet) — China will launch a remote-sensing satellite, ” Yaogan VIII” in the coming days from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province, the center said Sunday.

“Yaogan VII” was launched last Wednesday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center

The satellite would be sent into the space aboard a Long March 4C carrier rocket, the center said.

Also on board is China’s first public-welfare mini satellite, “Hope I,” which will be used for the country’s young people to experience aerospace science and technology.

Currently, the satellites and the rocket are in good condition, according to the center.

Its predecessor, “Yaogan VII,” was launched Wednesday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gansu Province.

Congrats!
But Now China will have better eyes on India.

BTW , any details of the payload, especially the Resolution of Cameras and the Type.
I would like to compare it with TES, sent by India.

. .
such spec is regarded as national secret.

well, a few words on resolution and camera type wont really hurt i thin.
but that differs from country to country, Gov to Governetment.

Thanks for the reply.

yes, differs from country to country

the reason why the western countries release their spec is because such news release can have positive impact on the share prices of the involved vendors. it is all market driven.

the reason why india release its spec is because they want indian to believe india is the best. just question this for a single minute -- what they want to get as return when they release such data? why they want you, an average india, to know the spec of such a spy satellite? yes, propaganda!

the reason why China never release such spec is because there is nothing to gain. sure, it creates so called "transparency", but how many average citizens cares about such spec? for providing such transparency to other countries like the US or EU, fine, there must already be some informal channels to disclose such details when necessary.

Good question. Although these two satellites have the ability to surveil other countries' land, our government only use them for doing scientific experiments, investigating territorial resources, estimating quantity of crops, predicting and reducing natural calamities.
China loves peace! :china:

lol :)

of course, peace for all

.
So only USA Russia and china have tech to knockoff Spy Satellites from the orbit so at war time weapons depending on them will be useless if China take all the US Satellites from the orbit if it goes with war with India or Taiwan
