China has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of phenol from the US, the EU, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Thailand, Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Monday.

The investigation starts Monday and should be completed by March 26, 2019, it said, but can be extended until September 26, 2019.

Phenol is a derivative of benzene, which is produced from petroleum.

More and more

China is warming up, this is just a taste of what's more to come.

Yes, it is just a warming up.

China wants to make them keep guessing, and keep being on the tenderhooks.

Specific sectors will be targeted to ensure highest pain and social impact.

Besides, there is lots of diplomacy work going on to use this opportunity to drive some wedge between US and its key allies.

Now, because the US initiated the first sanctions, they will have no excuse to come out and criticize China for counter action.

Yet, I would like to see China to be a bit more proactive.

Car, Plane, Households Chemicals, Electronics, just in these four domains, decreasing American brand market share, can make a irreversible course, hundred billion lost. Are these products not irreplaceble? China is not japan, as a biggest market, and manufacturing base, we need market, but we are also a irreplaceable market.

Of couse, USA can choose other base for factory and market for their products, like India, Indian are eager to be one, isn't it?

For us, It is a big challenge, also a good oppotunity.
