China Laos railway to start commercial operation on 3rd Dec 2021

The most profitable is the Eastern Line running along Vietnam. I think decision to build will come very fast in Vietnam after VPC got a wake up call seeing Laos China HSR.

The Western line can increase China logistic security and give China a quasi window at Indian ocean.

Central line which has the least efficacy got built first ironically -- as it is politically easiest.

I really hope the central line down to Singapore gets built.

Laos through Thailand to Malaysia to Singapore.

Okay in that way it is feasible... I was first thinking are they gonna build under the sea or over the sea.. But yea via Thailand and Malaysia is feasible

Pretty amazing, the whole South East Asia will be seamlessly integrated with China by then.

Singapore is already connected to Vientiane by metre gauge railway. The Malaysia section will be fully electrified and double tracked by next year. The Thailand section (up to Nong Khai, just 20 km from Vientiane) are being double tracked (but not electrified). A single track line, about 10 km, connects Nong Khai station to Thanaleng station (near Vientiane) now. Thanaleng station is next to the South Vientiane cargo station of the China Laos railway (still not finished yet).

This is big debt trap for Laos.

Its your Vietnam that has the Eastern line stalled, they dont want Chinese to build the railway lines in Vietnam fearing of strategic concern of unwarranted century old enmity towards China. Vietnamese like the Japanese to build the rail lines and other infras for them, China is in no hurry to build the line if Vietnam doesnt desire it. The Middle line went ahead becos Laos and Thailand want it build soon. The Western line is somewhat stalled becos Mymmar is not too ethusiastic about it.
