It's not just about the origin of the military equipment India currently applies.

It's the political relationship developments.

Agree that relationship with US are on rise.(But this does'nt mean we will join US camp! Period)

India being a Cold-War era foe was offered to join the F-35 program and offered superb packages during the MMRCA deal speaks volume.

There are many reasons for this such as:-

Economic recession AND cut in military spending of US have made lockheed martin and other defense firms to force US Gov to explore world defense markets and India is a lucrative one indeed one of the largest ones.

(Keep in mind we REJECTED that offer)

I know that relations between the US and India are warming, but that kind of rate is fast. Too fast. The Americans don't randomly offer equipment like that to anyone. Especially to a country like India where there are many problems ranging from poverty to corruption. It's not a first world country or anything like that in which it can go on random shopping sprees. They are offering them to India for a reason.

And i think you are forgetting that India is also worlds second fastest growing economy with almost $2 trillion dollar GDP.And yeah that was not a random offer we issued RFI and they showed us whats the best they can offer! And the most important point why they are offering us these equipment's is already explained above.

They intend to use India to pin against China.

Now, I doubt if it'd be in the best interests of India to be used like that. But even that cannot guarantee anything. The Americans are the most cunning you'd ever know. And believe me, they have the power to do it.

No one can use India! yeah i repeat no one can use India! India is not like its neighbor who say our Army is your Army!and bank upon other state's.
What India is doing right now is to take the best possible advantage of this tilt of US towards India and the warmth in relations.without allowing US to have any grip over our policies,And i think there are enough examples around if you look at them.

ex: Rejection of US defense equipment despite lobbying by Barack Obama himself, India's stand on Burma,Iran and yeah recently India's favor for Palestine for statehood despite opposition from both US and Israel.

I think above example would be enough for any person with average IQ that India can't be used.

Being a large country with a long and difficult history, it'd be hard to remain neutral.

Agree This is where smart Indian Diplomacy works.

We rejoiced when GoI kicked US aircrafts out of MMRCA, we rejoiced when GoI took side by the Palestinians, we expressed our concern when GoI voted against Iran.
