China, Israel take steps to resume military ties

Officials said China and Israel have decided to resume reciprocal visits as well as discussions on military cooperation. They said the cooperation would not include Israeli arms sales to China.
“This is the first sparks of a relationship that has been frozen for several years,” an official said.
Military sources said the visit by the Chinese delegation was not linked to the current Israeli tensions with the United States over Jewish construction in Jerusalem. They said the visit had been scheduled in 2009.

But the sources did not rule out the prospect that the Chinese visit could lead to a resumption of military cooperation with Israel. They said they did not know of high-level Chinese military visits planned for later 2010.
On March 21, Israel’s military hosted a senior Chinese Defense Ministry official. Col. Huang Xueping, spokesman for the ministry and Chinese military, began a four-day visit to Israel, where he was briefed on the operations of the Israeli military spokesman’s office.
“The Chinese delegation will be presented with the public-relations lessons learnt during the Second Lebanon War and during Operation Cast Lead,” the Israeli military said on March 22. “Additionally, they will learn about the IDF School for Media’s training system and the integration of spokesmanship and operational planning.”
The statement said the Chinese delegation would tour the border with the Gaza Strip and visit military units. Huang has been accompanied by several aides, including a colonel in the Chinese Defense Ministry.
The visit was said to have been the first in years that dealt with military cooperation between China and Israel. In 2005, defense and military cooperation between Beijing and Jerusalem was suspended in wake of U.S. pressure on the Jewish state to cancel an unmanned aerial vehicle program for China’s military. Israel paid more than $300 million in fines and compensation for the canceled project.

“The delegation is also due to visit other military units and will be briefed on the IDF’s activity in Judea and Samaria, with an emphasis on the quality of life of the Palestinian population and the media-related issues that are dealt with on a daily basis,” the statement said.
Still, the Chinese military delegation has been accompanied by that of senior political leaders. On March 24, Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu was scheduled to hold talks with Israel leaders in Jerusalem. Hui marked the highest-level Chinese official to visit Israel in 2010.
“The visit will focus on the need to impose sanctions on Iran,” the official said.

So does this mean the self-proclaimed "God's chosen ones" will stop their Falun Gong puppets??? Will their halt their CNN-BBC-CBC-Fox-CNBC-etc anti-chinese propaganda??? Does this mean they will stop their Hollywood-Lama hate propaganda??? How about their false flag terrorist operations, will they halt those as well???

So many questions, all related.

.
I think relationship between Israel and USA are deteriorating more and this step is one of the parameters to understand that. Israelis are worshipers of the rising sun and unfortunately sun of America has passed hour of its maximum shine.

Got a little confused here. Does what you said has anything to do with Israel? For what I know, China and Israel have had a very good relationship with each other ever since it started. Never heard anything negative(anti-Chinese) from Israel.

Israel relies upon Millitary production and export which is ofcourse an open secret that were does the technology comes from.

Weapons export for Israel is a matter of death and survival as this is their Largest economy driver.

Israeli foreign policy is based upon its export market ie India and other importers of its Millitary hardware.
Israel has even Asked Pakistan to supply its hardware from the "Back door" which was denied by Pakistan.

Israelis going to Chinese makes sense because they are selling what they are good at which is weapons & China is the Largest millitary on the Planet so its more Commercial and not based upon any type of "Friendship".

You missed two things here.

One, Israel has been forced out of Chinese military market for nearly a decade by American and American are very serious on this issue.

Two, Israel going to Chinese not for economical reason but for political one. Israel, since the start, sees China a potential big player in the middle east peace talk. China has good relationship with every neighboring nations of Israel and Chinese influence on this area is ever growing. Israel simply won't take the risk of messing it up with the Chinese.

Israel was our 2nd largest foreign supplier 10 years ago. Now it is not anything.

It needs our support, or at least no support to Iran, before it can make a move. Unfortunately what Israel does not realize is that it holds no cards in its hand, how can you bluff with nothing?

There is another aspect of this development and that is China has potential to be Israel's future backbone, just as USA and England has been at their time of glory. Jews were sitting in the lap of England until it was a mighty empire and the moment they found England has seen its time, they moved towards the next rising country America who they utilized to gain everything they wanted. Fortunately or Unfortunately for Israelis, the time of America is on its last chapters and China is starting to shine and would stay like that for the next 50 years minimum, so its good strategics move by the Israel that they are leaving the Yankees out (which they deserve), and collaborating with China, the future super power of the world.

LOL: Amrika is far from its last legs ... if it can keep its own bipolar, maniacal, imperialistic impulses under some degree of control.

Without Amrika who is going to check PRC's own "intemperances"? Japan? Russia? And who is going to put a brake on the real mischief-making by this adolescent Likud-Hindutva duo?

Obama's term(s) won't last forever ... Izzies may yet see better days (assuming this current spat isn't just show-biz ...)

Just my 2 cents.

looks like USA and Israel are moving away from each other day by day.

One thing is for sure, if Israel becomes closet allies of china, china relations will damaged with many Islamic countries.

But who knows future. :agree:

Chinese army chief here to talk defense cooper... JPost - Defense

Israel hopes that by strengthening its ties with the People’s Liberation Army it will be able to influence weapons supply to Arab armies.

Gen. Chen Bingde, chief of General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army, arrived in Israel on Sunday as a guest of IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.- Gen. Benny Gantz, marking the first visit of a Chinese military chief to the country.

Gantz received Bingde with an honor guard at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv. The two men were were scheduled to meet for a festive dinner on Sunday night with the participation of additional members of the IDF General Staff.

Defense officials said that Bingde’s visit did not signify a change in Israeli policy regarding defense relations and exports to the Chinese military. Israel significantly downgraded its defense ties with China in recent years due to American pressure.

Israeli companies are forbidden to sell weapons to the Chinese military.

The visit comes after Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s visit to China in June, the first visit of a defense minister to the country in a decade.

Bingde’s visit to Israel was part of a tour that included stops in Ukraine and Russia.

He will visit Yad Vashem and the IDF urban warfare training center in the Negev, and will hold a series of meetings with top officials to discuss the Iranian nuclear threat, the situation in Syria and the significance of the ongoing upheaval in the Middle East.

Earlier this year, Adm. Wu Shengli of the People’s Liberation Army Navy visited Israel and met with Barak and commander of the Israel Navy V.- Adm. Eliezer Marom. In 2010, a number of IDF generals, including the heads of the Home Front Command and Military Intelligence, visited Beijing.

Israel places a lot of importance on the visit, particularly because a recent United Nations report accused China of supplying Iran with missile technology and components from North Korea.

China is believed to be interested in bolstering its presence in the Middle East – possibly in the form of arms sales to Arab countries – and Israel hopes that by strengthening its ties with the People’s Liberation Army it will be able to influence the process.
