China Pledges Closer Relations with Israel

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met with Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Beijing Tuesday, to discuss bilateral ties.

Li hailed the healthy growth of China-Israel relations over the years, citing frequent political exchanges, enhanced trade links and agriculture and technology cooperation, as well as increasing people-to-people contacts.

Calling military cooperation an important part of the cooperation between the two countries, Li suggested the two countries' armed forces further enhance understanding, learn from each other and share helpful experiences.

He vowed joint efforts with Israel to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen cooperation in various areas, and promote even greater achievements of bilateral relations.

"The Middle East issue has long been a hot topic of the world," Li said, adding the recent unrest in West Asia and North Africa had added new and complicated factors for the efforts to advance the Middle East peace process.

He said China consistently advocates that all parties involved should follow relevant UN resolutions and settle disputes and divergence through peaceful means such as diplomatic negotiations.

"We will continue to firmly support the Middle East peace process, and are willing to work with all parties concerned and to play a constructive role in maintaining peace and stability of the Middle East," Li added.

In response, Barak said the two countries enjoy a profound history and had made important contributions to human civilization.

Barack said the Israeli people have always had a friendly feeling toward the Chinese people, and admired China for its great achievements in economic development in recent years.

While expressing appreciation of China's positive role on the Middle East issue and thanking China for doing so, Barak hoped that Israel would expand friendly cooperation with China in areas ranging from politics, economy, agriculture, science and technology, to the military field.

China to strengthen military cooperation with Israel

China is willing to further strengthen military cooperation with Israel to contribute to the development of country-to-country relations, State Councilor and Defense Minister Liang Guanglie said Monday.

Liang made the remark in his talks with visiting Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Liang said, "China values relations with Israel and is ready to expand and strengthen pragmatic exchange and cooperation between the two militaries, so as to make contributions to the further development of relations between the two countries and the two militaries."

Liang said the Chinese and Israeli people have deep traditional friendship, and the bilateral relationship has maintained a good momentum of development since the establishment of China-Israel diplomatic ties.

Liang hailed increased political mutual trust and the achievements the two sides have made in all areas through pragmatic cooperation in the past 19 years of diplomatic ties.

Barak echoed Liang's remark, saying that he hoped the two sides could expand common ground, strengthen friendship and learn more from each other through his visit.

He also pledged to lift pragmatic cooperation between the two nations' armies, and make joint efforts with the Chinese side for a better and deeper military relationship.

Majority of Asian countries maintains econmic ties and defence ties with Israel, mate, you can not stop that, if you want to that mean - you are going to war with majority of Asian countries. Look like you dont know much about Israel Asia ties....

I think China would Dump Pakistan for Israel.

Muslim Nations are not Trustable for China (Since China doesn't trust it's own Muslim Citizens).

The only Trustable Country for China in the Middle East could be Israel!

Vietnam seeks all-round cooperation with Israel

Vietnam wants to increase cooperation with Israel, especially in the areas of the latter’s strength such as science, technology, investment, trade, labour, and tourism.

President Truong Tan Sang affirmed this during the November 25 talks with visiting Israeli President Shimon Peres in Hanoi.

Mr. Sang welcomed his Israeli counterpart, accompanied by 60 businesses, and expressed his pleasure with the fine development of bilateral cooperation, particularly in science and technology, economics, and trade.

The State leader briefed his guest on Vietnam’s achievements during its Renewal process and reaffirmed Vietnam’s foreign policy of becoming a friend and reliable partner of the international community for peace, independence, and development.

Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations with West Asian countries, including Israel, said Mr Sang.

He voiced Vietnam’s support for international efforts to peacefully settle conflicts, including one between Israel and Palestine, on the basis of international law for the benefit of concerned parties.

For his part, Mr. Peres said he was pleased to pay the official visit to Vietnam, the first one made by an Israeli leader since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1993. He said the visit aims to accelerate the multi-faceted cooperation between the Israel and Vietnam.

He expressed his admiration for late President Ho Chi Minh as well as Vietnam’s success during its past struggle for national independence as well as the current process of national construction and development.

The Israeli leader said he hopes Vietnam will achieve greater successes in implementing socio-economic development goals to build a prosperous nation, with an increased role in the international arena.

Both leaders expressed their delight at the development of bilateral relations thus far, and reaffirmed their determination to strengthen ties in the future.

Vietnam-Israel two-way trade reached US$220 million in 2010, a 34 percent increase from 2008. This year, Israel pledged to provide supplementary credits worth US$100 million for Vietnam. The two countries are effectively implementing numerous cooperation projects in agriculture and technology in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong, Nghe An, and Lam Dong.

Israel also granted apprenticeship scholarships to Vietnamese scientific and technological officials.

On the occasion, Mr. Peres invited his host to visit Israel and the Vietnamese State leader accepted the invitation with pleasure.

** At a press briefing held shortly after the talks, Presidents Sang confirmed that Mr. Peres’ visit will provide fresh impetus for further bilateral cooperation.

“We agreed to maintain political cooperation between Vietnam and Israel by promoting exchange of delegations and implementing agreements signed by both countries,” he said.

He thanked Israeli authorities for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese nationals working and living in the country.

** On the same day, the two Presidents witnessed the signing of a maritime transport agreement and supplementary document to the Vietnam-Israel financial cooperation protocol.

PM Dung lauds Peres’ visit to Vietnam

The official visit made by Israeli President Shimon Peres will be a new milestone in the Vietnam-Israel relationship, says Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr Dung emphasized this while receiving Mr Peres in Hanoi on November 23. He said Vietnam attaches great importance to strengthening ties with the Middle Eastern country.

The PM expressed hope that the two governments will work closely together to implement cooperation projects which have been recently signed. He also said he hopes both sides will soon establish a joint committee for trade, economic, scientific, and technological cooperation.

Vietnam wants Israel’s support in developing science and technology for agriculture and in creating favourable conditions for businesses to expand investment cooperation, he said.

For his part, Mr Peres said his official visit to Vietnam aims to further develop the friendly relationship between the two countries. He also pledged to cooperate with Vietnam in agriculture, which is considered its strength, and in other potential areas.

**On the same day, Mr Peres met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who expressed his belief that the visit will help enhance Vietnam-Israel ties for mutual benefit.

Both leaders also briefed each other on their respective countries’ socio-economic conditions.
