What's new

China is good but why doesn't it have a bigger role in Information Technology?

@Jackdaws

Chinese IT companies, for example Alibaba

Do they operate outside China?
Yes - Alibaba is mostly B2B whole AliExpress is B2C. It generally provides a marketplace to Chinese manufacturers - it is undeniably a large platform and that Jack Ma is a very intelligent man - credit where it is due. But to call it an IT company wouldn't be accurate.

OK. Meanwhile, it takes someone special to be happy about his citizens becoming refugees and begging to be let in into a neighboring country. Or trying to pass off a French citizen as Chinese. No wonder China is generally scoffed at.

Nope, low IQ low creativity Tibetan are not considered as Chinese, Chinese consider these low iq people same as Indian, you are welcome to take them in. Lol, scoff? All I know is Indian is being hated by practically every single Indian neighbor.

Lol. Tibetans are not Chinese? But Tibet is in China? Hahahahahhaha. Please do continue to exhibit your high IQ logic to entertain us.

You obviously have no idea what Alibaba is, it is a mainly B2C company that operates its largest platform call Taobao.com, not AliExpress. Taobao is its bread and butter. Alibaba financial tech affiliate Ant Financial is the largest tech unicorn in the world today worth 100B dollars. Its sophisticated Alipay is the largest software enabled payment tech in the world after Tencent pay, the company is as IT as it can be.

Hahahahaha. Wonderful. Will you please continue to regale us with more gems?

This thread isn't about India but about China. Alibaba is a marketplace - it is not an IT firm. Don't know about the other 2 - so can't comment

It's not that hard when your Internet is not state controlled or censored. But I can understand why someone from China would consider a simple google search as "hard work" - that's precisely why China is horrible at IT.
Well,I know some indian IT companies.Although I don't like to talk to people without understanding sarcasm,But if you quoted me,I will say it simply and straightly, india is still lagging behind China when it comes to IT

Indians should be ashamed of using Chinese browsers and other Chinese application software:

Bengaluru: Chinese utility and content apps such as UC Browser, Xender, SHAREit, Cleanmaster and UC News have become among the most popular apps in India, overtaking many of their Indian and American rivals with ease.

UC Browser, owned by Chinese e-commerce firm Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, is the most popular browser in India. Another Alibaba-owned app, UC News, which aggregates entertainment, cricket and other content, is among the most popular news apps

Tencent market value = 580 billion
Alibaba market value = 527 billion

Just 2 of these companies equal half of Indian GDP.

SHAREit denies it is malicious or spyware app

File sharing app SHAREit on Monday said they are a user-friendly content sharing platform and not a malicious or a spyware application in India.

IANS | December 05, 2017, 08:15 IST

NEW DELHI: File sharing app SHAREit on Monday said they are a user-friendly content sharing platform and not a malicious or a spyware application in India.

Reacting to reports that the Indian security establishment asked troops to delete some 40 Chinese mobile apps, including SHAREit, the company said it does not compromise on users' security.

"At SHAREit, we strictly adhere to high security standards and respect our users privacy. We do not compromise on user's security and their privacy is of utmost importance to us. We have a huge user base in India and we are committed to providing better products and service to our users with continuous technological developments," the company said in a statement.

Reports last week alleged that foreign intelligence agencies including from China and Pakistan were using these mobile apps to hack into smartphones.

"We have taken this issue seriously and are investigating the advisory. We are also happy to interact with government and media representatives to give more clarity. As per industry standards, we have also partnered with Amazon AWS [Amazon Web Services] as our infrastructure service provider, aiming to provide fast and secure service to our global users," SHAREit added.

According to reports, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in a November 24 advisory asked troops to delete apps like WeChat, Truecaller, Xiaomi, Weibo, UC Browser and UC News from their smartphones or reformat their devices altogether.

Last week, leading communication app Truecaller also denied any foul play on its part.

"In response to certain reports, we would like to clarify that we are a Sweden-based company. We are not sure why the app is on this list, but we're investigating. Truecaller is not a malware, and all our features are permission based and are disabled by default," the company said in a statement.

Xiaomi has also refuted these reports, saying they take security and privacy very seriously and were currently investigating the advisory.

Why u ask that idiot? Do u think you can get a real answer? If you really want to get a genuine answer. Stop asking him. If you just want to satisfy your ego, go ahead and ask him for fake answer. :enjoy:

To quote the great Forrest Gump - "I may be an idiot. At least I am not stupid."

How authentic is the claim that shareit is malicious?
Never heard of it to be honest. If it is Chinese, chances are pretty high it is.
