China Hosts CICA Summit in Shanghai
Chinese president Xi Jinping delivers a keynote speech at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (‪#‎CICA‬) summit in Shanghai at 10am BJT on Wednesday (2014/5/21).

President Xi Jinping and his wife ‪#‎Peng Liyuan‬ held a welcome ‪#‎banquet‬ for guests attending the 4th CICA summit Tuesday evening.

Xi called on Asian countries to cherish rare opportunities, safeguard the good momentum of Asian development, and promote the unity, cooperation and development of Asia, during his speech at the banquet.

Chinese president ‪#‎Xi Jinping‬ has just wrapped up his address to the #CICA summit meeting in Shanghai. In his remarks, the president focused largely on the new Asian security landscape. Highlighted Asia’s growing influence in the world, Xi urged member nations to move beyond zero-sum cold war thinking and embrace “common, comprehensive and innovative ‪#‎security‬ ‪#‎cooperation‬.”

Terrorism also loomed large in the president’s remarks with Xi noting that transnational crimes and cyber security threats were on the rise in ‪#‎Asia‬. He urged member states to be united in the fight against terrorism, separatism, and extremism.

President Xi declared that “It is for the people of Asia to solve Asia’s problems and uphold security of Asia.” He also stressed that China’s works for the peaceful resolution of all territorial and maritime disputes.

Looking to the future, Xi said that China was ready to support the dreams and aspirations of all Asian nations, alluding to his more well-known promotion of the Chinese ‪＃‎dream‬.

She (Peng Li Yuan) is a PLA non-ranking officer, a Army singer. She joint PLA Army BeiJing military region as a PLA singer at 1980. I think now the lady retired from PLA Army until her husband Mr Xi as PRC's president. She was married to her husband Mr Xi also is in 1980s, at that time Xi was a provincal level officer in Fu Jian province.

She was a good Army singer, ever joint many PLA condolence shows to frontline soldiers during 1980s Sino-Vitnam border disputes.

It's good for China, we have a PLA female soldier who ever experienced war as our 1st lady.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It is a forum based on the recognition that there is close link between peace, security and stability in Asia and in the rest of the world.
