Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday said that China had helped Pakistan in blocking India’s bid to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

India has been seeking membership to the 48-member club, whose members can trade in and export nuclear technology..

While countries like the U.S. have backed India’s membership in the NSG, China has only offered conditional support to New Delhi.

China’s Foreign Ministry had called for “prudence and caution” over expanding the NSG.

When asked if China wants to back any other country’s entry into NSG, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying had said, “As for the expansion of the group, the members should make the decision on consensus after thorough discussions. India’s inclusion into this group is an internal matter of the group. It needs prudence and caution and thorough discussions among all members.”

“We support such discussion and we also support India’s inclusion into this group if it meets all the requirements,” she had said.

Pakistan says if it is deprived of the NSG membership while India is accommodated, it would be taken as discrimination and lead to imbalance in the region.

Thank you China... btw its in China's interest too.. India have disputes with China as well.
India should come on table to resolve dispute with neighbors if she want NSG or UNSC membership :)

It is necessary to counter Indian nuclear program neither it will cause nuclear weapon imbalance in the region. Indian policies are always based on hypocrisy.

Brownie points! Sitting on the high table is sexy, huh? But overall, it's as useless as t!ts on a nun!

Seriously, it only helps if you are a net exporter of Uranium, which we aren't.

. .
but we dont have anything to export.if we had nuclear material we have enough use of it ourselves.
We could offerReactors and technical assistance to 3rd world countries..Nuclear trade is not only restricted to uranium.

Why would Pakistan and china won't like India getting NSG membership ?

Chinese are taking Pakistanis for a ride

The most significant part of NSG membership has already been granted to India in NSG waiver i.e allowing uranium imports. Which apparently Chinese despite their best efforts to halt eventually failed.

Chinese stance against Indian inclusion in NSG is at best rhetoric to milk Pakistani insecurity on this issue.

How very true, seems fair.

Clearly you have never heard of Pakistani nuclear proliferation. Just google A.Q.Khan their 'father of nuclear programme'. The guy tried to sell off-the shelf nukes to rogue nations including North Korea, Iran, Iraq and Myanmar's military junta. Goggle is your friend. Whereas, India boasts of strong non-proliferation record.

Also, they're churning out nukes like sausages. They have now over taken UK in number of nukes.

Pakistanis are first to boast on usage of nuclear weapons and then seek NSG inclusion, the irony is so amusing.

yes i know that. and how can india back then be able to develop a neclear weapon back then?(and thats not the only thing)
from what i know aq khan sold reactors to north korea and iran. but leaked papers showed he sold very old designs that would mean it would take them so long that by the time they had enough material the united states would have interviened.
