What's new

China has built the world's largest navy. Now what's Beijing going to do with it?

I'm 75 years old. My mother lived to 98 and my grandmothers both lived to 94. But, my father only lived to 69. However, I'm confident that I can coast out of here, i.e. assume room temperature, while still a "free" man, before the authoritarian systems of the world, including USA Socialist Democrats, can catch me.

I don't have much hope that you young wippersnappers here at PDF can achieve a lifetime of freedom.

You must have enjoyed the freedom offered by Trump. :enjoy::help:

having the biggest navy is one thing having the the best is quite another

if we are talking about numbers then North Korea also has the biggest navy by numbers

or is this Chinese fanboy trying to compare China to USN? in which case his is making a complete fool of himself

PLAN have the numbers but USN have both global reach and unparalleled power projection capabilities.

Consider the sheer gap in following metric for instance: "The US has more than 9,000 vertical launch missile cells on its surface ships to China's 1,000 or so" - very telling.

Now consider qualitative comparisons in other areas such as submarines, jet fighters, aircraft carriers, Electronic Warfare capabilities, sensor-netting capabilities and more - PLAN does not compare TBH.

All moral frameworks which are narrated by the Western Imperialist powers only apply to white people only. Remember that American founding fathers were also slave owners which continued well long after their independence from Britain. Their declaration of independence and bill of rights didn't have any impact on the non white population up until today. Even women got voting rights in the US not so long ago. Some non white people still parrot hypocrite verses of their white masters about human rights in other promising non white countries such as China in return of favors from their white masters. This shameful trend is very common among Indian, Japanese, some HK and south Koreans.

The PLAN might start escorting shipping from countries the Chinese government helps get out of UN sanctions, in exchange for advantageous trade deals. A PLAN base in Venezuela might not be out of the picture, considering the build up in the first island chain and the need for Venezuela to get economic relief. Sort of like a second Cuban missile crisis. The Chinese could escort Venezuelan oil tankers back and forth from Venezuela to China. This could also be their plan for Iranian oil tankers.

I don't know where they got their information but their VLS count is grossly inaccurate. If the rest of their article is as 'credible' as their estimate, then this is an information free propaganda piece.

Even using the absolute most conservative estimate of ships on full active duty, the 1x 055, 15x 052D and 6x 052C already has 1500 VLS with another 1000 VLS from 31x 054A frigates with 32x cells and 4x older destroyers with 48x cells.

That's not counting an entire half of the destroyer fleet that's in sea trials (not under construction, they're already in the water).

Things are not looking good for US Navy. Ticons will be retired in coming decade, they are pretty old ships. By 2026, almost all of them will be retired, and they are still struggling to find a replacement. They are not building any more zumwalt class as well. PLAN is expanding whereas US is receding. Chinese also can build at much cheaper rate - US will need to spend gigantic amount to remain on same pace as these Chinese. It will be a very different world after 2025.

Don't worry the US has you for their meat shield.

We are living through one of the greatest shifts of power in human history. The next 10 years China will close the remaining technology gap with the US.

I guess the time of hide your capabilities and bide time is over, the age of expansion has come or as the saying goes, the age of the west is over, the time of the east has come.

Why does CNN hire Chinese fanboys? 🤔
And I agree with you that China can never get into the big leagues... until it sorts out its hoverboats.:omghaha:

What does that sh*t even mean? How do people get it and what's it supposed to signify?

I guess you posted comments without reading the article.

"The PLAN is not receiving junk from China's shipbuilding industry but rather increasingly sophisticated, capable vessels," Andrew Erickson, a professor at the US Naval War College's China Maritime Studies Institute, wrote in a February paper.
