Wow, China's PLA is smaller than expected, but then again, the Second Artillery Corp is massive.

The Second Artillery Corp has 110,000 officers, then PLA total has 1.6million officers

China is not the same as France.

China is many times larger than France in both land mass and population and also China has huge potential adversaries like Russia and India that are have well-equipped armies of around 1 million troops each.

1.5 million troops for 1.3 billion people is not too much really.

Its not constrained by bodies, but by money, same as most other countries.

yes, army 0.85 million soldiers; navy: 0.235million soldiers; air force: 0.398 million soldiers; The Second Artillery Corp :0.11million soldiers; all 1.6 million soldiers;

Apart from this, there are about 0.7 million ChineseArmedPoliceForce(CAPF)， just as National Guard troops of US

So even called 2.3 million PLA, but infact only 1.6 million now

I must say some words about ChineseArmedPoliceForce(CAPF), total has 1.2 million, but inwhich 0.5 million belong to Ministry of public security not soidiers(Border control, firefighting and security guard); 0.7 million are soldiers, belong to both Ministry of public security and PLA(Internal security forces, Gold mine, forest, water, electricity, transportation,Duties at fixed points, respond to emergencies, such as anti-terrorism task, and to support national economic construction)

Looks like a significant cut down from the numbers that the PLA fielded in yesteryear. A greater focus on improved equipment and training perhaps?

Never mind, if necessary PLA could easily find out there'r 100million reserve soldiers and 200million men in China.
But PEACE time no need to feed a huge army, it's better to cut the quantity and improve the quality.
