China Getting Ready to Dominate the Indian Ocean?

Well we learned the lesson & don't sponsor terrorism in the neighborhood any more & nope a great power always involves itself in the Internal affairs of it's neighbors to safeguard it's interest

India does hold the mantle of being the largest nation in South Asia. It would benefit you guys to have a less interventionist policy with your neighbors such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Take for example Japan and China. You think Pakistan and India have it bad? SIno-Japanese Wars led to the deaths of millions , unprecedented destruction in both nations. Yet, despite it all, Japan and China have risen above our past and have developed together, integrated and have a bilateral trade that is the largest in all of Asia. Our bilateral trade is close to $400 Billion per annum. Unprecedented bilateral tourism (5 million Chinese tourists [PRC + Taiwanese] visit Japan a year ; and over 5 million Japanese visit China per year. Tho China and Japan have maritime disagreements, we have mechanisms set in place to prevent clashes. We both also have non-interventionist policies regarding each other.

South Asia, in general, can learn from the successes of China and Japan.

.
A failure in strategic depth, mon ami. The point is, its best not to involve in national affairs of neighbors.

India should learn from its policies in the past.

LOL, of course not. Talks of "burning" certain ports.

There are alot of hyper nationalist Indians on this forum but I dont blame them it is the result of other hypernationalists from our neighboring countries, just ignore :).

We do actually since there is no one economically strong enough to challenge us in South Asia(Except the US & China) & we will interfere in our neighbors Internal affairs if they try to harm our legitimate interest

Chinese naval bases in SL would be sitting ducks in case of a conflict and SL will have to pay the price of it.

.
Come on man. Be realistic. India did not even intervene when Tamil community in Sri Lanka were targeted during the SL Civil War. Now you're saying India would launch a pre-emptive strike on Sri Lanka (and thus directly the PLAN) ? I don't think so. That would be an example of failure of strategic depth. That would result in an all out war, something that India does not need or cannot afford.

If China develops military presence in Sri Lanka, then conduct a tit for tat. Develop austere relations with some countries in ASEAN.
There is a change in govt in Sri Lanka
the new govt is pro India I think
so chances of a naval base are pretty less

And secondly...... Chinese ships will be sitting ducks here in war time scenario

So I see no possibility of any such thing happening any time sooner

Chinese submarine docks in Sri Lanka despite Indian concerns| Reuters

It has happened, and will continue to happen more frequently when facilities in SL are getting more matured.

In case of war (just hypothetical, the chance is very vague) PLAN would have evacuated the port into battle-ready formation (at cruise missile distance off the the 3 Indian coasts) whenever tension begins to heighten. SL is a supply station so PLAN warships will not aggregate in large amount at any single point of time to eliminate however the slightest chance of a potential Pearl Harbour type attack (attack without warning).

The SL supply station is used to support PLAN's reinforcement to PLA in Africa/ME, and support PLAN fleet near Horn of Africa e.g. anti-piracy. This port plays insignificant role in war (again just hypothetical, the chance is very vague as I see it) with India.
