Experts: China likely gave N. Korea illegal missile launcher

China likely provided the mobile long-range-missile launcher that North Korea displayed in a military parade over the weekend, a move that would put Beijing in violation of U.N. sanctions, analysts say.

The 16-wheeled vehicle, known as a transporter-erector-launcher (TEL), is apparently based on a Chinese design, said Ted Parsons of IHS Jane's Defense Weekly.

The Chinese and North Korean versions of the TEL “have the same windscreen design, the same four windscreen wiper configuration, the same door and handle design, a very similar grill area, almost the same front bumper lighting configuration, and the same design for the cabin steps,” Mr. Parsons noted.

North Korea’s TEL was featured in a massive parade in Pyongyang over the weekend, one of a series of events held to commemorate the centenary of the communist regime’s founder, Kim Il-sung.

“If confirmed, China’s involvement in providing this erector-launcher to North Korea would put it in breach of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874,” said James Hardy, the Asia Pacific editor for Jane's Defense Weekly.
China doesn't deserve to be a permanent council member; kick China out and return the seat back to Taiwan.

. . . .
All weapons component trade is also banned.

Since that launcher truck is a weapons system component, China violated the UNSC Resolution 1874.

The tires on the TEL look like Kum Ho's and that's a South Korean brand. South Korea should be thrown out of the UN.

On topic:
I dont think there is any violation. Most likely be mis understanding or an over reaction on the accuser's part

.
The provisions of the resolution include:

  1. Authorizing member states to inspect, "in accordance with their national authorities and legislation, and consistent with international law," North Korean cargo on land, sea, and air, and to destroy any goods suspected of being connected to the DPRK's nuclear programme.
  2. Requiring the North Korean government to return immediately to the six-party talks and renounce its announcement of withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
  3. Preventing financial services that could contribute to the nuclear or ballistic missile related programmes.
  4. Instructing member states not to provide financial assistance to the DPRK nuclear programme, or enter into loans with the country, except for humanitarian or developmental reasons.
  5. Extending the arms embargo on North Korea by banning all weapons exports from the country and most imports, with an exception to small arms, light weapons and related material – though member states must notify the Security Council five days prior to selling the weapons.
  6. Demanding that North Korea halt its nuclear weapons program and conduct no further nuclear or missile tests.
  7. Asking member states to notify the Council of steps they are taking to implement the sanctions within 45 days.
  8. Affirming the Security Council's commitment to a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to the situation.

Pray tell me....which provision has been violated ? If we're being brutally honest it doesn't really say that your not supposed to I dunno share the blue prints on how to make a foOking truck ! They didn't provide any financial services and they didn't import or export anything from or to NK...so what has been violated ?

That is a total lie. If anyone "gave" nukes to Israel, it was the French. And, besides, Israel is not a signatory to the UN Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.

Kumho has no.1 market share in China and supplies tires to everyone. Selling tires in China is not illegal. China selling the completed TEL vehicle to North Korea is.

No 5 and No. 7.
