China exports first HTS Satellite to Indonesia

That is launching rocket only, not satellite making. China is producing high tech communication satellite plus the launching process. An all in one package. Only Europe and USA plus China are capable of that. Not even Russia can match it.
@Han Patriot

Nope. The satellite. Please feel free to check on the next 3 launches of the GSAT series. Or better still read up on the same before saying its not possible.

India doesn't produce the key components for satellites, basically they buy european transponders and integrate it to their bus which is a generation behind Chini buses. They can't launch anything more than 2.5 tonnes, therefore, it need to be launched by Ariane. You do not have a HTS satellite!

Feel free to read up on the next 3 GSAT satellites. First launch is in June this year from Ariane.

Yes India is not yet ready as China for building of their own satellites. India depends on some imports from western countries & Japan.

Atomic clocks also are imported.

India is still leasing many "C" band transponders from Saudi Arabia.

Surya, as per above post, India is too dependent on imports for components. I can bet that whatever HTS satellite plans you have, it would be using foreign made transponders. You need a domestic IC fab to build stuff else you will keep on importing and just do 'assembly work'

Funny how you stil need to depend on Ariane to launch satellites for you. 4 tonner delivery capability is a quarter decade technology for China.

I am not debating on the fab plant or that we currently also use the Ariane. We are quite some time away from putting heavier satellites, read 4+tonnes. up. Till date the tonnage is 2.5 tones. These are routinely launched now under the GSLV MkII vehicle. Most GSAT launches are now using this vehicle. The Ariane launches were planned much before we had the MkII successfully tested. The heaviest MkII is expected to be the Chandrayan 2 at 3.1 tonnes.

I was pointing out that we do have HTS satellited in the pipeline. As in most ISRO programs, they concentrate mostly on things which is not available off the shelf. Then replace the foreign components with India made replacements.

Also, please understand ISRO does not compete with the top agencies for launching heavy satellites. Their commercial success is in launching small satellites in a quick affordable manner. Its only recently that we have stated onto the mid size satellite space with the CE7.5 engine found on the third stage of the GSLV MkII.

The only reason you are not facing Chinese competition is because there is a US ban on Chinese launching any satellites with slightest US contents. Otherwise, your subsidized PSLV cannot compete at all. We had been launching heavy American satellites 20 years ago until the Clinton ban in '96.

That is not our mistake is it? We are simply making using of places where we have an advantage. In this case, political. And your saying you are not allowed is your problem. Not ours.

My point is your saying India does not have HTS satellite is like saying you do not have a successful Mars mission. You could have 10 heavy launch vehicles, but we have a successful Mars mission. Tag me when you launch a successful Mars mission 3 YEARS FROM NOW. That is the earliest.

Nobody is saying you are not allowed bhai, I am telling you, your advantage is built upon political rather than industrial efficiency. You cannot beat Chinese manufacturing prowess.

Damn, the only thing you can brag is Mars. Come on, the PSLV was used to launch it. China has the ability to launch to Mars. You on the other hand don't have the ability to fully manufacture a HTS satellite. The difference lies in the ability.

You mean to say, we have the proven ability to send to Mars, while you have the spoken ability. Therein lies the difference. Demonstrated fact versus proven ability.

Lol...an indy telling me about quantum mouth. So explain to me how much more advance PSLV is compared to a CZ-3B.

CONGRATULATIONS! The very first of the many successive ones in future! Just breaking the ice :partay:

China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) is the sole company authorized by the Chinese government to provide satellites, commercial launch services and international space cooperation. http://www.cgwic.com/

This deal is from INDOSAT OOREDOO (Qatari interest is one of the shareholders here, took over from Temasek) as one of the partners in the 50-50 J/V buying entity, "PSNS". The other big player in Indonesia owning satellite biz is TELKOMSEL (Temasek Singapore is one of the main shareholders there). These two companies are the biggest as well as the earliest operators in Indonesia telco biz.

Jokowi government is actually quite a good president. It just his opponent and extremist making things difficult for his administration. A single mans effort is not enough to steer 250million population destination if the remaining not cooperating.
Well said! Many members just posted random, bold even aggressive comments with absence of knowledge thus inaccurate yet felt amazingly certain!

So how abt many others that you yet to accomplish or in pipe dream. I will you will definitely bring up the Mars thing. Becos it is the only you can talk about while China space has many which India yet to accomplish.
