(Xinhua/Zhao Liang)

China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) made a large-sized discovery Kenli 6-1 in Bohai Bay, which is expected to be the first large-sized oil filed in Laibei lower uplift.

According to a statement of CNOOC sent to the Global Times on Wednesday, the Kenli 6-1 structure is located in Laibei lower uplift in southern Bohai basin with an average water depth of about 19.2 meters.

The discovery well KL6-1-3 was drilled and completed at a depth of 1,596 meters, and encountered oil pay zones with a total thickness of approximately 20 meters. The well was tested to produce around 1,178 barrels of oil per day.

The successful exploration of Kenli 6-1 demonstrated the Company's remarkable breakthrough in the exploration area of Laibei lower uplift, and further proved the huge exploration potential of the Neogene lithologic reservoir in the Laizhou Bay.

CNOOC is the largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas in China and one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in the world. The Group mainly engages in exploration, development, production and sale of crude oil and natural gas.

Its core operation areas are Bohai, Western South China Sea, Eastern South China Sea and East China Sea in offshore China. Overseas, the Group has oil and gas assets in Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Oceania and Europe.

URUMQI, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region transmitted 300 billion kWh of electricity outside the region over a decade, said the State Grid's Xinjiang branch Saturday.

The electricity transmission helped China's central and eastern regions reduce about 96 million tonnes of coal use, and cut carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions by 259.2 million tonnes and 816,000 tonnes, respectively.

According to the company, the continuous expansion of electricity transmission is due to improvements in several key power projects extending from Xinjiang to the eastern provinces.

In addition, the region signed deals with several provincial-level administrations, further fueling the surge, the company said.

According to the Xinjiang Electricity Trading Center, Xinjiang currently transmits electricity to 19 other Chinese regions, many of which buy electricity from Xinjiang as a form of economic support to the region.

Xinjiang is rich in coal and wind power. To date, the installed power capacity of Xinjiang is 92.432 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity of new energy is among the top in China.

China and Iran flesh out strategic partnership
Staggered 25-year deal could mark seismic shift in the global hydrocarbons sector

Iran has been negotiating a 25-year accord with China and the terms will be announced once a deal is struck, the foreign minister told a stormy session of parliament Sunday.

“With confidence and conviction, we are negotiating a 25-year strategic accord with China,” Iran’s top trading partner, Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

During the session, Zarif was heckled by lawmakers, largely over his key role in negotiating a 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, which the US unilaterally abandoned in 2018 as a prelude to reimposing biting sanctions.

It was his first address to parliament since a new house started work in late May in the wake of elections that were dominated by conservatives and ultra-conservatives.

Zarif insisted there was “nothing secret” about the prospective China deal.

The nation would be informed “when an accord has been concluded”, he said, adding that the intention had already been made public in January 2016 when President Xi Jinping visited Tehran.

China is also a key market for Iranian crude exports, which have been severely curtailed by the US sanctions.

The 2015 nuclear deal had given the Islamic republic relief from international sanctions in return for limits on its nuclear programme, but Iranian conservatives staunchly opposed that multilateral agreement, arguing the US could never be trusted.

But Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has come out publicly in support of a strategic bilateral partnership with China.

The planned China deal has been a hot topic on Iranian social media since populist ex-president Mahmud Ahmadinejad last month condemned negotiations underway with a foreign country.

In northern China’s hydrogen push, by-product output and renewables lead the way

China might lead the world in battery vehicles, but until recently it was a relative laggard in hydrogen. Now, it’s catching up.

According to the China Hydrogen Alliance, a government-supported industry group that promotes the use of hydrogen, China built 38 new hydrogen refueling stations in 2019, meaning that by the end of the year China had a total of 66 hydrogen refueling facilities, 46 of which were operational. The government is targeting 300 HRS across the country by 2025.

A range of different companies are involved in the construction of hydrogen refueling infrastructure, from oil and gas majors such as Sinopec, to fuel cell makers such as Shandong’s Weichai, and even steel companies. In 2019 Sinopec built four combined oil-hydrogen refueling stations. The stations – converted from existing retail sites – combine hydrogen refueling infrastructure with conventional diesel and gasoline filling facilities.

With its existing network of retail stations and experience in producing hydrogen for its refining and chemical plants, Sinopec is well placed to take a leading role in the supply of hydrogen, with the company planning a further 20 combined oil-hydrogen fueling stations in Guangzhou city alone according to the company’s news website.

The company is also one of China’s largest producers of hydrogen, making over 3 million mt last year. But virtually all of this is made from fossil fuels or produced as a by-product of its refining and chemical operations.

China Telecom said it will continue to work with its partners to promote other application scenarios to better serve the 5G smart grid. Social production and people's lives.

Qingdao 5G smart grid project adopts end-to-end 5G SA network construction and introduces 5G fully automatic multi-dimensional dynamic slicing solution.

Combined with 5G MEC's ubiquitous connectivity and ultra-performance heterogeneous computing power, it provides faster, finer, and more efficient slicing for grid applications. More accurate differentiation and deterministic network capabilities.

It enables new applications such as intelligent distributed power distribution based on 5G SA slicing, and 5G base station peaking and valley power supply. Staff monitoring transmission lines and distribution facilities through 5G+4K Ultra HD cameras on power towers can detect The potential for faults can save up to 80% of the manpower and resources required for on-site inspections.

With 5G's ultra-low latency and high reliability, it can also quickly locate, isolate and restore grid line faults, reducing power outage time from minutes to seconds or even milliseconds.

In August 2019, China Telecom Qingdao Branch, State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company and Huawei to form a joint 5G application Innovation Lab to jointly promote the construction of 5G in smart grid and energy internet systems.

China sets up new central SOE to manage oil, gas pipelines
Source: Xinhua| 2019-12-09 16:38:24|Editor: ZX

BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday set up a new centrally-administered state-owned enterprise (SOE), the China Oil & Gas Piping Network Corporation.

The company will partly be responsible for the investment, construction and interconnection of main oil and gas pipelines to form a nationwide network, allowing to transport crude oil, refined oil and natural gas through the network, it said.

Aiming to forge an oil and gas market with effective transport through a unified pipeline network, the establishment of the central SOE is an important step forward in promoting the reform of China's oil and gas system.

By interconnecting the country's oil and gas pipelines, the company will help raise the allocation efficiency of oil and gas resources and ensure safe and stable energy supply.
