China-Egypt Cooperation (Suez Canal, New Cairo, etc): News & Discussions

.
If possible,Egypt should be persuaded into allowing China to buy a stake in the New Suez Canal。:D

NAsser & Egyptians fought and Died against the Frecnh/Britain to take back the Suez canal and make it into 100 % Egyptian owned... and you want it to be sold ( few stakes/parts) to China...

Good Luck with that...

.
Good progress on China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone ("Teda City"). Chinese manufacturing firms are relocating there progressively.

Wish other China-Egypt big ticket co-operations like power infra, IT infra, transportation, defence and New Cairo all progress.

what a ridiculous statement. the French and British took it by force. China is offering them something they want in return for something else. they don't have to accept the offer unless the Egyptians think it's a fair offer based on the circumstances. But whatever right, everything China touches is "imperialism" to you lmao, if that's what you think then we don't care lol.

I need to hear what most Egypt Arabs think and say, direct voices and expressions.

I'm pretty sure the last thing the Chinese want to do is make colonies. They know what it is like to be bullied by Colonial powers and I'm 100% sure they would never do the same thing to another nation.

I would totally be fine with China investing in it. You could probably sell 20% of it, sorta like how Saudi Arabia is selling off 5% of Aramco.

First Chinese City in Egypt? Is it like a totally funded by China?

I also like the Chinese and Arabic script, it looks very nice together.

Yes, this China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone is first of its kind in Eypyt, lead investment by China-Africa TEDA Investment Co, Ltd (Teda is a multinational conglomerate HQ in Tianjin, China). Like all SEZ's, this zone is industrial in nature, it's all about manufacturing i.e. "Made in Egypt". Major greenfield FDI here include Jushi Egypt Fiberglass Industry, XD High Voltage Equipment Company and Muyang Egypt Industry. The zone is under expansion now, ultimately it will bring 150~180 Chinese companies here, total investment US$2+ billion, creating 40,000 local jobs, generate significant tax revenues for Egypt as well as exports. The zone is expanding into phase 2, construction going on at the moment, Guangzhou Dayun Motorcycle Co. Ltd. will be the first greenfield FDI. The name "Teda City" is marketing name.

P.S.: SEZ (Special Economic Zone) is an expanded version of Industrial Zone (Industrial Parks, Corridor, etc), has its own bonded logistics areas, business areas, transport hubs, recreation and entertainment areas. By now China has established over twenty SEZ, including: Pakistan (Haier-Ruba Home Appliance Industrial Zon), Zambia, Thailand, Cambodia, Nigeria, Mauritius, Russia (St. Peterburg Baltic Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, Ussuriysk Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, Tomsk Siberia Industrial and Trade Cooperation Zone), Venezuela, Vietnam, Mexico, Ethiopia, Egypt, Algeria, South Korea, Indonesia, etc.

Egypt has unveiled its China-made multi-purpose supply vessel for specialized logistic navigation and to transport the new oil and gas from the Mediterranean Sea.

The new ship, built by Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China, will not be limited to providing navigation services as it will also work in the recently discovered Mediterranean Sea oil and gas fields, which will put Egypt on the same level with the major gas-producing and exporting countries.

"The Suez Canal Authority is sparing no effort to modernize its potentials in the service of regional and international maritime navigation," Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish on Wednesday was quoted as saying by Global Times Wednesday.

“Egypt has to acquire specialized vessels to reduce its dependence on foreign companies, so that it can minimize the costs and maximize the benefits,” said Mohii Shebl, manager of maritime units in Timsah Company that owns the vessel.

The 90-meter long, 4,744-ton vessel, which is largest in the middile East, is equipped with a lever that can reach 2,000 meters in deep water, and a moon pool that allows a submarine to pass through it to 3,000 meters under the sea.

Timsah is expected to sign two other deals with other Chinese companies to build more vessels and maintain two ports, Shebl added.
