XI'AN: The historic city of Xi'an in northwest China is busy developing a newsoftware cityinspired by theBengalurumodel. Local authorities are looking up to Prime MinisterNarendra Modifor assistance in this regard and want him to sign a contract with theChinese governmentto this effect during his visit next month. Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit Xi'an, which is also ChinesePresidentXi Jinping's birthplace, as a reciprocal gesture.

The Chinese President had extended an invitation to Modi to visit Xi'an after he spent a day in PM Modi's home state Gujarat during his visit to India last year. There is a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement in Xi'an ahead of Modi's visit, although the authorities are tightlipped about the PM's plans.

Wang Menghao, project manager at Xi'anHi-tech IndustriesDevelopment Zone'sForeign InvestmentPromotion Board (FIPB) said that although his team has visited Bangalore several times no formal contract has been signed yet. "We go there regularly to learn from them to develop our software city. India and China can cooperate in this field. Indians are among the best in software. China can contribute with hardware and it will be an infallible combination," Wang said.

China believes that India has a lot to offer, not only in the field of software development but also in pharmaceutical industry. "Xi'an not only has the best international companies that have invested here but also we want it to be a major metropolis by 2020. We already have some of the best schools and universities here," Wang said.

Xi'an will be an attractive destination for Modi as it offers both culture and commerce, according to locals, who point to India's historic connections with Xi'an. The originalSilk Roadoriginated from Xi'an.

If the Chinese want a contract to help build a software city, ask them to sign a similar contract to help build manufacturing hub in India.

Collaboration has to benefit both parties involved.

Another ghost town in the making . Full of buildings with no one to move in . And this is how you create jobs . But better than their previous plans . Destroying newly build bridges and building the new one o_O:what:

 Who will copy a city ? Replica !!!

They won't because they can ripoff anything from pulsar bikes to Banglore

True. China has started to remind me of the book 1984, where one reason to have wars was to destroy property to later employ people to rebuild the same.

A significant potion of China's growth was due to government investment in non-performing assets, now they have to invest even more to stop a drastic slow-down.

Anyway, if India does not benefit from this deal, little reason to help China.

THis is not going to ring bells with PM Modi for sure. India has been asking China for access in its IT and Pharmaticals for almost 2 years with no avails even after signing MoU. India has now threatened to impose anti dumping duty on Chinese electronics forcing them to manufacture in India.

We want to export IT and Pharmaticals pls, not export from CHina.

I stopped typing midway through my post, I thought this forum would be rational, turns out, I am a moron.

There's tons of software cities in China, but I would still recommend learning from India, why not? Good experience is good experience.

You live you learn, btw, when did learning from others become this demeaning act? I always thought learning to be better is the way to go.

Don't think some people who posted above understand how business runs - or able to differentiate business from geopolitics.

Many Indians in here this news as a chance for bragging. These people have such low self esteem that they need to brag on any news.

Bragging is Chinese trait and not of Indians
