China first tested the DF-41 in July 2012. With a range of up to 14,000 kilometers, the missile is capable of hitting most targets in North America. The Global Times, which is affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party organ, People’s Daily, quoted the Washington Free Beacon report and said the DF-41 will serve as the new basis of the country’s security in its Dec. 19 editorial, effectively confirming this month’s test fire.
So the claim about range and number of MIRV's comes always from Mr. Gertz instead of Chinese military sources? Don't seem to be too serious reporting when they use claims what are never publicly confirmed by any govt sources.
I know that skepticism makes some people here butthurt, but let's wait and see what is it's real range and payload capabilities.
Here is size comparison between Minuteman III and Peacekeeper MX. To have 10 MIRV missile with range of 14.000 km would mean that the missile itself will be massive, and that will raise questions about it's off-road or even road mobility.
Here is how massive Peacekeepers moving equipment needed to be, now imagine how large actual TEL (communications equipment, hydraulic arms, etc) needs to be perform it's duty. 12:40 on wards -------------->
Only reasonable way to deploy large missile like that is either silo or train.
