China develops intelligent high-speed train - People's Daily Online

A prototype of China's first intelligent high-speed has been developed successfully by the CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Co., Ltd on June 25.

The company has spent two and a half years on the technology development and research of the intelligent high-speed train, which is also a crucial progress for the national science and technology support program “key technology research and development of the intelligent high-speed train prototype.”

On the basis of situational awareness and dynamic digital environment, the intelligent high-speed train has realized the application of emerging technologies on large transportation equipment for the first time, such as technologies of Internet of Things and Sensor Network, as well as multi-network integration on the train, according to Wu Donghua, the chief engineer of China CSR Sifang. The train is characterized with its self-test, self-diagnosis and intelligent decision-making capacity.

The development of the intelligent high-speed train has three purposes: first, it can assure the safe operation of the large-scale high-speed train in complicated environments; second, it can realize the real-time dynamic control to improve trains’ service and maintenance efficiency; third, it provides high quality service to passengers, such as information, wireless broadband, e-ticketing and other modern information services.

The intelligent high-speed train will be subject to a series of experimental verification conducted by the Beijing Railway Research Institute in the future

The test train, with China Railway High-Speed (CRH) 380A train as its technical platform, is China's first large transport vehicle applied with the Internet of Things technology and sensor networks technology, through which passengers could enjoy modern information services like e-ticket and Wi-Fi.
