What's new

China could pump money, share tech to improve Indian Railways

As far as i know, it is all in talks for many years, no very tangible updates so far.
Let's first see how Japanese will deliver.
China and Europeans systems are mutually compatible.
China/European systems are incompatible with Japanese.

Now, Chinese consortiums are in busy talks with countries in Europe and Malaysia/Singapore.
Those projects are way more important for China's national interests and geopolitics.
Japan does not have the experience of building high-speed rail in the tropics.
China has rich experience in the construction of high-speed rail in a variety of climate regions

That's true.
The only high-speed railway in operation in tropical weather is Hainan Island's Ring HSR.
It is quite different from other regular HSRs.
China is an experimental field for HSRs of ALL kinds of weather and geological conditions.
We have ALL, desert, tibetan plateau, negative 40 degree wetland, karst landform, YOU NAME IT!

653km-long Loop HSR of Hainan Island

Japan will save India.

Ours is an country protected by God. We do not need protection of any other country. Infact, we are not threatened by any one.

We have laid down the railway i most difficult terrain named Konkan railway and also in Jammu and kashmir. So terrain do not matter much for us. we can vertually build railway anywhere.

Indian railway expertise and experiences are still lacking...
They definitely need more international assistance.

You may be true in area of high speed rail. Otherwise, what we have done in difficult terrain is such a beautiful work that pwople see this as a case study. Simply unmatched.

Unmatched? We built regular railways in Tibetan mountains and through Xinjiang desert decades ago with longest tunnels and bridges in the world. For Tibetan railway trains we have oxygen provided in every cabin for every passanger, talking about unmatch..

The last railway bridge has been delayed for many years due to technological problems.
Nobody knows when it can be finished.

The red arch bridge you have posted is in Wushan, Chongqing, Western China.
It opened in 2005, one of the 30+ Yangtze River bridges in Chongqing Municipality.
You can check the file name of your photo.

Indians do need to put more efforts in building bridges, roads and railways in mountainous regions.....

The expressway length in our poorest province, also one of the most geologically difficult regions in the world, is longer than the entire length of india's control-accessed expressways.

They need more international cooperation and technology sharing/assistance.

Expressways and bridges in Guizhou Province

@Godman @Götterdämmerung @terranMarine This bridge is one of my favourites.

The terrine in J & K and in western ghats of india is more difficult to build railway than anywhere. Even difficult building the one in Tibet. In J & K Himalayan soil is flimpsy and wester ghatas are very much near sea.

You can only say "one of".
We have way more crazy bridges in China's one province called Guizhou.
This province has more high bridges in the world than ANY COUNTRY in the world.

On infra, i suggest everyone should be very careful on wording,
especially on usage of "highest, longest, biggest, etc".

What difference does the hight of terrin makes. We have highest railawy line for decades. what maters is the topography of the area and hardness of the soil. In himalya, soil is flimpsy and started falling down as soon as you start digging. It possess real chellenge. I want everybody to see this.
