No. There is no alternative to that. Its the people who have to become wiser and vote sensibly. This will take time, but will happen. Election of Modi was an example where people knowingly chose to not elect a party that was promising everything under the sun and choose someone(Modi) who clearly said he will not give anything for free but will develop the country.

Its a cycle, I can only hope that the current path continues.

I understand that. But you know, quite often a policy which is good in the long run and will have positive effect only after 10 years will scare away voters, especially in local state elections. That's why I think some limitations in local administration should be imposed.
