China is building a new airfield in Tibet which is 20 kms from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

China continues its military build-up in Tibet. There are reports of the Chinese Air Force building a new airfield in Burang, in the Tibetan Autonomous Region. In fact, construction has already begun not far from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

More worrying is the location of the airfield. It is just north of the Lipulekh area, where the tri-junction between India, Nepal and the Tibetan part of China is. It is about 20 km from the International Border, the Line of Actual Control.

The question is why China wants an airfield when it already has so many in Tibet, like Lhasa-Gongka, Hotan, Shigatse, Pangta and Ngari. These have rapidly been made all-weather, meaning that they are serviceable in the bitter winter. Post-Ladakh crisis, they are being upgraded. They are getting more runways or sheds or hangers and even better air-defence systems.

Just how big the airfield will be, how many planes it will host or what the primary task of the airfield will be is not clear. It is still being constructed.

.
Can all these new airfields host military fast jets or just helicopters? Seems like most of them are not full scale military airfields that can host bombers or fast jets. To many for them to be that ..

.
but are people of Tibet free? can they protest against the Chinese government and voice their opinion

here in the UK we have demonstrations to strip our local MP because he mis-used his funds for travel agains his food allocation

can people of Tibet hold their leaders accountable
Almost no peoples can!!! As for the USA, nobody was held accountable for the WOT based on a false flag ops! And, it has put the USA on a descending mode…..

Do you know that these Tibetans used to be slaves and those who fled to India used to be slave owners. After PLA arrived in Tibet, the first thing was to abolish slavery and release Tibetan serfs.

Look at the life of these Tibetans now. Contrary to your imagination. They are already the most supportive ethnic group, and their support rate even exceeds that of the Han people. Because they like a rich life and fear the return of slave owners.

The major changes in deployment is now China is more forward heavy. India can no longer continue her forward policy.
