Stop being ignorant.
IF CHina's current technological trajectory was not better than US's, US govt would've have made it a national priority to kill the "CHina 2030"(or whatever the Chinese govt calls it) vision!! thats a big reason for this trade war between US and CHina- US is starting this fight so it can undermine a BIG advantage CHinese govt and people will have in the near future by disrupting the supply chains, technology, etc that that vision requires.
If you are a Westerner and you still think there is a considerable gap between US and CHina, oh man, you are in for pain and nasty surprises.
To be fair, the US target China high tech industry is not because they are "above" the US, but simply because of money. In most case, Chinese Tech are behind the US/West, and in some case, the reverse is true. And I am not sure about you, I live near Shenzhen when I was in Hong Kong, and I quite frequently travel there and I saw how "High Tech" Shenzhen really is.
And the trade war is nothing but Trump way to get re-elected.
Yup good point. Patents filed is irrelevant.
Even when comparing patents granted, US patents are quality that have innovative capabilities. Chinese companies use patents as a d*** measuring contest so they get patents granted for nonsense that have little innovative capabilities.
China will always put quantity over quality because quality control is not taken seriously in China.
That is a very typical way to manipulate data. You basically pick the best case scenario and portray it as the ground reality.
I don't quite understand why China want to portray itself as High Tech, advance. I mean they just come out from a 40 years dormant sleep, it's no shame to play themselves as catching up
