A city in China's mainly Muslim Xinjiang region has banned people with large beards or Islamic clothing from travelling on public buses, state media said, prompting outrage from an overseas rights group Wednesday.


Authorities in Karamay banned people wearing hijabs, niqabs, burkas, or clothing with the Islamic star and crescent symbol from taking local buses, the Karamay Daily reported.

The ban also covers "large beards", the paper said, adding: "Those who do not cooperate with inspection teams will be handled by police." --

Well, I would say the following:
1. This provision is in a few Muslims in northern Xinjiang city named - Karamay
2 This provision does not prohibit beards. It stipulates that young people should not stay long and big beard, except in the elderly.
3 does not prohibit the wearing of the veil, do you think it will be implemented in the whole of China? Provisions that women should not wear Burqa and similar clothing, rather than banning all types of veil (the elderly and young people are different).

4, then again, this is China, China needs to secular Islam. These things never before in 2009.This is a necessary response to the extreme case occurred in recent years.

In addition, there are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world, many Islamic countries, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Somalia, Muslim conflicts within these countries, not to mention the few Muslim countries like China, how could we make every Muslim in the world are satisfied?

First,most Chinese aren't atheists,and Chinese government aren't communist anymore,we are just not that religious
Second,believe in one-god religions(Judaism,Christianity and Islam) doesn't make you a good person or bad person,there are good people and bad people exist in every kind of people
Third,the religious freedom in China is actually greater than Pakistan,there are even Rohingya and Ahmadi refugees in China,and in Guangzhou and Wenzhou,thousands of Middle east and African muslim traders happily live there,many of them married Chinese females,and want to live there forever.Compare with their own countries,China is far far better.
Fourth,in Xinjiang,there are more than 20000 mosques,how many muslims there?And I can tell you，in Tajikstan,a kid can not go to mosques to pray(and I can understand this,the islamists caused a civil war in this country，they should make their country peaceful),I think you guys don't know this,because western media will not report this，why they report this kind of news of China again and again?Because they want to creat hate and confusion between Chinese and muslim world.

An EU countries - France, women are prohibited wearing the veil,the EU agreed.

well though China is right in terms of securing its own security, this certainly won't go well with the Islamic world. Interesting to see Chinese Muslims inputs here especially.
