China backs India joining UNSC

the PM has stated that the UNSC needs restructuring, as its “present structure poses serious problems of legitimacy”. “The system of two-tiered membership, which gives a veto to the five permanent members, i.e. the nations that emerged victorious after the Second World War, is clearly anachronistic," Dr Singh said.

This is a very valid point, i think India should be a member without veto, in fact no country should have veto powers, and all decisions of UN should be governed by the approval in Majority.

russia, UK and france no probs
the only hurdle i see there is just united states
and i don't think china will support us with VETO

as a country with 1.1B people ,it's just matter of time that india will joint the security souncil,no matter china support or not.but i don't think china or russia really want it to happen,it will be US,UK,France, india against other two, balance lost

If China were to support India it would be a master stroke on part of the Chinese .

This one act would undo yrs of hostility & foster good relations.

All Disputes btw Pakistan and India including Kashmir should be settled before the inclusion if India in UNSC .
Pakistan should also support the Indian inclusion in UNSC and look for areas to promote peacefull ties and mutual economic growth.

It is not a madatory prerequisite for India to join, that would be upto Pakistan's use of soft power to make it into fruition

I dont think India would forget China's move at the finalizing days of Indo-US N-deal. Same thing here probably. Only time will prove wether China really meant their support for India to UNSC.

I heard a while back the 5 bigs have many frictions among them but one is agreed: no veto.

At least for the moment...

Sorry folks but I dont believe the Chinese.

1961, India's nuke deal with US, India at NSG all the events were having official China backing but through backdoors they tried to work against us. :taz:

The biggest hurdle is that India, Japan,Brazil and Germany, the G-4 have formed a block and have been pressing for their case jointly. they have been pressing for all four to be admitted at the same time.

In case of Japan I do not see PRC supporting them.

Ya this is the main problem

I totally agree with you:tup:

China should support India in the UNSC bid, and also to have veto powers. This way China will earn a lot of respect from common Indians. Both countries should involve each other in all other fields like trade and cultural exchanges. A unified Asia is in Asia's interest.

But sadly China doesn't seem to very interested in it, instead it's more interested in keeping India and Pakistan entangled until it's 'ring of pearls' is strewn around India. I honestly believe that.

It will be a great achievement for India but I think there is a long way .... may be in 2017

Its strange non Muslim country....before India need to be permanent member, he need to resolve all existing disputes.

without Kashmir resolution i don't see it possible, pakistan will give hard time to allid forces in WOT if India is allowed

common indian know china as a invader in your primary school textbooks, that's the only reason you hate china, but your govt never told you that it's your "forward policy" put you in the lost position.who cares about your respect if you wanna keep your mind in that way
