China backed Vietnam's first urban railway enters service

The main reason this project took so long is the trains should be made in Japan but Japanese didn't deliver at the time when the railway was 99% done a few years ago. So in the end of day Vietnamese gorvnment had to order the trains from China too. After China trained 37 Vietnamese drivers the department of transportation rejected those drivers qualifications.
Plus Vietnamese media and people tried to pick bones inside an egg attitudes.
It was a jock. Now I know why Vietnamese and Indians are friends. They all have this penny wise confidence.

Why does such critical infrastructure projects takes so long in Vietnam. I thought since Vietnam was a one party communist state like China such projects would have been much more faster than in most countries.

one party does not necessarily mean fast and efficiency, why so naive or pretend to be? if that's so easy, then kings and queens ruled the world without any revolution.

If only one project is delayed, we can blame contractor. If every projects are delayed, we should blame ourselves.

Second, we should rely more on our own and less on foreign contractors. As per my experience working in some of the largest projects in Vietnam, traditionally, foreign contractors do not trust Vietnamese engineers (they think we are kind of a poor, backward South East Asian country like the Phillipines) and vice versa, neither Vietnamese engineers do trust foreign contractors, leading to poor cooperation. Poor language skill of Vietnamese partner in general (English, Chinese or Japanese) is another problem.

The expressway project (from North to South, nearly 2,000 km, currently under construction by Vietnamese contractors (no foreign contractors were allowed, which is a bold decision by the government) have pretty good progress and almost on schedule.

Most Vietnam engineers are smart. Dont blame them. One big reason for the delay from 2018 to 2021, despite all engineering closure. is because it will give China too much prestige being the one who completed the metro on target and very much on time. There is hypothesis that GoV would like to delay China metro, until after the French/Korean Hanoi metro and Japan Saigon metro start operational.

But then French/Korean and Japan is too inefficient compared to China that not sure everything will be completed in 2025. Best they can do is to have part of the line running 2023.

So Vietnam allow China metro to start.

Next is because PM Nguyen Tan Dung and Minister Đinh La Thăng took all the monies intended for land acquisition and project stall. China basically bail out all the shortfall.

Thank. But we should not discuss rumours.

I do not see any significant further recommendation on safety improvement on the audit committee, and one of them being chaired by French consortium, that merits a delay from 2018 till now.

That means all 3 years wasted because someone in Vietnam just repeat the rubbish that Hanoi metro not safe.

All vietnamese will be grateful to China. Cos they don't need to wait so long for something to materialize. Thank you China. More project to you from Vietnam.

Vietnam will ask China to build HSR for them :enjoy:

Chinese can dream to much ...

We see one leak in China. It says that during trials of 70,000 km and 5700 train-session, China metra achieve 99.7% of punctuality. Meanwhile Vietnam still insist of finding faults.

Meanwhile in US Washington, Japan brand-new Kawasaki train derailed amidst numerous accident within a small time frame. Good luck to Saigon metro and those race traitors who worship Japan.

I hope the construction workers of Vietnam will be responsible for the works in their own country. Workers who are not responsible will harm their own country.

socialist one party state doesn't mean efficiency just like democracy doesn't mean wealth.

there are penniless 3rd world democracies, dictatorships, monarchies and socialist states all the same.

one thing they share in common is that they have huge mouths, huge egos, and tiny hands. they don't like to work but like to brag.

They do it on purpose to delay China one so it will be on time to unveil together with Japan one but Japanese project are too incompetent and keep delay.

VCP want to unveil the Chinese project now to ease some public anger over the VCP incompetent handling of covid cases and also showcase VCP contribution to modernize of Vietnam.
