There's a correction here; none of the eastern people look like Chinese. There are different categories inside oriental features. Now let me clear you the strategic disadvantages that China have.
1. Unfriendly nature made a blockade between China and other nations causing less friendly nation ( Pakistan and North Korea ).
2. Surrounded by USA having bases in Japan and South Korea, so your North Korea cant even move in battle condition.
3. Pakistan ( no offense to country only facts ) cant ignite battle with full force as it is disturbed by its own domestic problems like terror activity throughout Afghanistan border and economic condition. So Pakistan out from your scene.
4. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will never commit such mistake and we all know the reasons. ( Except backstabbing i.e. naxalites )
5. Burma , Nepal and Bhutan . These countries are long time allies and strategic partners on India.
6. Now final match Indian vs China. Ohh come on man you know that why this war is not possible. Both countries dont want to decrease its economy. You got surrounded from almost all sides, in north Russia ( India's best ally ), west new Afghanistan ( USA quick landing ground ), east ( Japan, South Korea with US allying and add Taiwan ) and in south India.
7. This is just strategic condition.
All country i mentioned above will not ignite war because all are peace loving countries but prepared for war.

If you choose to believe Japan, be my guest, there are others who think otherwise. In Wikipedia nowhere it mentions a settlement has been reached, so as far as UN is concerned the the islands still in dispute.

The activities that you mentioned only happened in recent decades. when Japan ambitiously trying to expend her territorial waters.

For millenniums Chinese and Taiwanese fishermen, being so close by, have pried there trades in these area. They used the islands for safety when there are storms.

So until a settlement is reached Japan has no businesses to be around the islands. She repeatedly sent research vessels and even congressmen to the area clearly violated the protocols. And China intercepted such activities clearly within her rights.

I suggested that you learn some history before making random comment. It had a Chinese name way before it had Japanese name. The island was grabbed by Japan together with Taiwan and should be returned together with Taiwan to China after WWII on a treaty. Somehow US controlled it and decided to give it to Japan in 1972 amid the cold war. Just check the location of island and see how it is closed to Taiwan.

This is one of the rare issues that all parties of different Chinese regions agree upon. Just today, thousands of Taiwanese ships broke the blockade of Japanese military ship and sailed to the island and it is the only case you see Taiwan and Mainland flag side by side peacefully.
