China announces $178.2 billion military budget

.
Yes, but it's a bit hypocritical to accuse China of copying (Lavi, Python III AAM, ...) while yourself you are selling to anyone who takes it, despite all embargoes and contracts. :what:
why china dont do r&d with other countries like israel did with usa and india?

Since they had such great friends like Israel that sold everything for good without any concerns and as such it was much easier, cheaper and quicker. That these old friend now cannot remember or don't want to be reminded on what they did is another story.

I think the Chinese army is a little eat full now, and it may not spend too much money now. Even if it's only 1.3% of GDP.
2010 year,Military Expenditure $75 billion, $6 trillion GDP,1.3% GDP
$170 billion in military spending and $14 trillion in GDP,1.3% GDP
The percentage has not changed, but the amount has increased too fast.

.
Many have called for military spending to rise to 2% of GDP, as Mr Trump has demanded of NATO countries.
China's current military spending is only 1.3% of GDP, and many people are disappointed.

The government spends $3.3 trillion a year, but military spending is just over $170 billion. It is only 5% of the annual government expenditure, 1.3% of Gdp.
don't be disappointed; our primary goal is to take over US economy as soon as possible (while it also deters US military in Asia); our government is very smart; we are NOT soviet union; our economy is still one of the world's most fastest growing (and the highest among the global powers); we must put our most budget on economic development so then we would have much bigger budget next year; note that US budget was about $4 trillion last year and about $0.7 trillion of those spent for military expenditure (over 15% of US budget); clearly, US has unnecessarily overspent for the less productive industry; defence industry is not growing now and it has much less effect on economy than growing industries like electric vehicle, drone, 5G communication, or solar power; so we're on right way; don't worry my friend
and sure 100bn$ unannounced budget they have .
so you believe what your foe (US) say? and don't believe your old friend (china)?
honestly we NEVER have any purposely unannounced budget; actually we can't
it's just another US media against its foe :disagree::disagree::disagree:

The budget is used to pay staff salaries, maintain equipment, train, maintain military bases in foreign countries.... too many expenditures and partly eroded by corruption.

I think less than a fourth of the money ($ 178 billion) is spent on developing new weapons.

.
hmm this figure is very small looking at the size of china and its economy it easily can do with 300 Billion $ budget.

. .
she dont need right now
its not about the need as you see. its about future planing and controling your neighbour hood and power projection i think soon it will be 300 billion $ as it is a necessity to control stuff around china. for power projection.

War is coming, they're preparing for it. They don't have to pretend anymore now that the entire planet is hyper-pissed off at them.
Better remember that their only qualified opponent on this planet is the US alone. Also they are pretty much on track to prepare a war against the US. That's why they have developed ASBM, Hypersonic weapons, stealth aircraft, anti-stealth sensor arrays and other evolutionary stuff.
Other countries don't count in that competition. Let alone say India, a country started building an aircraft carrier 10 years back and never managed to put that into service.
