Since India is worried too much about its neighbors, its about time it starts worrying about it self as well and stop meddling unnecessary in other countries affairs.

Please people really do look stupid when they try to enlighten Indian's about our own poverty. We all have to cross chopadpattys or slums on our way to work even in mumbai or delhi. And you say "see see you got poverty"...sounds stupid brother..!!! Please focus on thread subject rather than trying to enlighten us on things which we already know..!!!! This is not a forum of a bunch of school kids, all are educated and well informed and aware of their surroundings. However it seems some members here are ill informed when it comes to LTTE and indian aid to SL.

And yes we do think India can be a super power.. and also realize that we have a long way to go before being that..!!! And no harm in believing in yourselves..!!!!

Indian poverty is not rant, its a reality, accept it or not. India has not reached the status where you guys don't find a reason or a need to look inside other then just pointing fingers and calling out your neighbors the reason for all of India's troubles.
And by the way since you forget let me refresh your memory from the time Pakistan decided to help Srilanka fight terrorism, all sort of propaganda and rant started in India about Pakistan trying to encircle India and Pakistan should first take care of Talibans before helping others with aid money and what not. Compare to that this doesnt even fall anywhere near to the word rant even if you would insist.

Ok you keep blabbering about what 'someone' in india said and thus avoid all responsibility of a civil dialogue here. disregard what India has done and doing for SL, and keep going on about what 'someone' in India said

Indian poverty is reality, but in the context of pakistan and china helping SL how is it relevant here? As if there are not scores of millions of poor in those countries? Want to discuss indian poverty, open another thread, or post in the relevant thread. going on about it in irrelevent threads is indeed ranting for want of a better argument.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I still believe that India is in no position to provide help to anyone whilst a large proportion of its own population is dying to due hunger and disease. It doesn't do any justice.

now let see here...... pakistan gets aid for fighiting militants.....but you had enough ammo to provide lanka.....so why the military aid from other countries?

now we are not getting aid from other countries for food..... and we are not giving lanka food but the means to produce them!!!!!make them self reliable -to prevent them falling in a begging situation ... ahem.......

If pakistan and china had not helped sri lanka with weapons so they could defeat the LTTE they would be no talk of helping farmers-refugees rebuild there lifes.
You got have peace before any reconstruction can take place.
I think if you ask any sri lankan who's support was more important in defeating the LTTE they will say pakistan-china.

A matter of opinion, but i've asked a sri lankan, and he did not agree. I think anyone could have provided the low tech weapons either for cash or for deep sea ports, but keeping the 60+ million tamilians a stone's throw away away from the conflict was the real challenge and a greater danger. India achieved that for SL and for India's sake too.

Good stuff, India has always been there for Sri-Lanka, our excellent relations are testament to the fact.

Now that the LTTE menace has been wiped out, we must do all we can to assist them and get them back on their feet. The green revolution did wonders for India, we have a tried and proven method so I'm sure we'll be able to reproduce the results in Sri Lanka.

There's huge potential for economic and strategic cooperation, the sooner we can capitalize on it, the better.
