China lent at least $110bn (£68bn) to governments and firms in other developing countries in 2009 and 2010, surpassing the $100.3bn from the World Bank

China has lent more money to developing nations than the World Bank in the past two years, the Financial Times said on Tuesday, underlining Beijing's ambitions to increase its global influence.

China lent at least $110bn (£68bn) to governments and firms in other developing countries in 2009 and 2010, surpassing the $100.3bn lent by the World Bank, the newspaper said.

The statistics were compiled from public announcements by banks, borrowers or China's government, it said.

The Chinese government, sitting on more than $2tn in foreign exchange reserves, has since 2009 stepped up its backing of state companies scouring the globe for assets and raw material supplies.

Banks such as China Development Bank , Export-Import Bank of China and Bank of China, have extended loans in return for guaranteed oil supplies, and also lent money for infrastructure projects in countries such as Ghana and Argentina.

It said the loans offered more preferential terms than the World Bank on deals that were supported by Beijing.

That has led the World Bank to look for ways to work with Beijing to avoid rivalry on such loans, the paper said.

Does anyone know as to what exactly are the major differences in clauses on the loan offered by the World Bank and and those offered by China ?

The World Bank's loans are applied for like one would apply for government grants, and China's loans are negotiated and bargained politically. The former comes with more oversight and latter with less.

We Chinese need to help other developing countries with all means necessary.:china::china: Remember the World Bank and IMF are not the best sources for developing countries they charge much higher interests and ALWAYS offer loans with political attached strings.

India is empty pocketed compare with China because:

1. India's GDP (1.3 trillion) is a lot , a lot smaller than China(5.8 trillion).

2. India's dollar resever is 200 billion, while China's is 2.8 TRILLION.

3. India is busy funding russia's weapon program and busy buying weapons from other countries with VERY VERY high price.

This is why india is always EMPTY pocket when it comes to helping other 3rd world countries.
