OAS & CAS visited PAF Base Mushaf. COAS was flown in an F-16. CAS flew in another F-16 & both aircraft proceeded to manoeuvre for a combat action simulation mission.

COAS lauded professionalism & dedication of PAF & thanked the Force for its unmatched services to the nation

I wouldn't know. Probably the thinking that the fighting branch would be better able to lead in peace and war, as opposed to let's say someone from engineering or air defence. Indian Air Force doesn't follow this tradition.
