Air Chief vows to fight internal, external threats
March 23, 2010

ISLAMABAD: Chief Of The Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has extended heartiest greetings to all the countrymen and women on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan Day, which is being celebrated today.

In his message, Qamar Suleman said the historic day evoked memories of a major event in the national history. “It was on this momentous day that the Muslims of subcontinent unanimously passed a resolution for an independent state, where they could live in accordance with the tenets of Islam. They launched an epic struggle for their cause under the inspiring leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and, despite bitter opposition, succeeded in transforming the dream of millions of Muslims into a reality in the shape of Pakistan.”

He said, “By the grace of Allah, Pakistan is an important Islamic state, with tremendous potential to grow and progress.”
Criticising the extremist elements, he said, “While Islam is a universal religion of peace, amity and tolerance, certain misguided elements with vested interests have been portraying it in negative colours, thereby damaging its pristine image.
He stressed the need to erase all kinds of misgivings against Islam through conduct and actions, and by making Pakistan an enlightened, forward-looking and tolerant Islamic state.

He assured the people that as proud sentinels of the aerial frontiers of the great country, the PAF personnel would not spare any effort in safeguarding and preserving the honour, integrity and sovereignty of the beloved country against any threat, be it internal or external.

“On this august day, the PAF reaffirms its pledge to the nation that Pakistan Air Force will accomplish the assigned mission with extreme dedication and perseverance,” he added.

Pakistan starts production of avionics for JF-17 Thunder aircraft

ISLAMABAD (APP): Pakistan on Friday successfully launched the production project of avionics for the fighter jet (JF-17 Thunder) at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, speaking as chief guest on the historic occasion, said, “a strong air force is essential for our nation’s survival; therefore, self-reliance for PAF (Pakistan Air Force) is an important factor. Today’s ceremony is an important step in this direction.”

He expressed satisfaction that significant progress had been made in achieving national objective of attaining self-reliance in defence industries.

He commended the management, airmen and civilians of PAC for their devotion and dedication towards this project of national importance and urged them to continue this journey with added zeal and zest.

Earlier, PAC Chairman Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan presented an appraisal of the JF-17 avionics programme activities.

He said the generic production and testing facilities had been established at Kamra Avionics and Radar Factory where, besides the Chinese avionics, four indigenously designed and developed avionics systems were also being produced.
He informed that the production scope would be progressively broadened to include the production of complete JF-17 avionics suite at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

Secretary of Defence Production, Members of JF-17 Board of Directors, Principal Staff Officers of Pakistan Air Force and representatives from the Chinese aviation industries attended the ceremony.

COAS visits Air Headquarters to attend analysis on PAF-Pak Army joint exercises

ISLAMABAD (APP): Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani along with General officers from GHQ visited Air Headquarters. They attended the analysis and discussion of joint exercise High Mark-2010 and Azm-e-Nau-3 at the Air Headquarters. The session was also attended by Principal Staff Officers of PAF.

Expressing deep satisfaction over the efficient and safe conduct of the biggest ever PAF-Pakistan Army joint exercise, General Kayani appreciated the vital role played by PAF in all facets of the exercise, and hoped to further enhance the spirit of jointness in future operations.

In response, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman assured COAS of PAF’s unflinching resolve to extend all-out support to Pakistan Army towards the achievement of common national objectives, including the ongoing anti-terrorist operations.

On arrival, the COAS was received by Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force.

PAF geared to react quickly to emerging threats: ACM Qamar Suleman

LAHORE: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has said that the PAF today is fully committed and geared up to react quickly to emerging threats and future contingencies.

He was addressing the participants of 39th PN Staff Course here on Monday on “My Vision of Pakistan Air Force”.

The Air Chief talked about the ever changing geo - political situation and growing menace of terrorism, which transcends national boundaries and affects innocent lives.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman expressed his satisfaction over the professionalism and preparedness of PAF. He also highlighted the importance of joint operations with Pak Army and Pakistan Navy for significant effects in minimum possible time.

On arrival at the PN War College, the Air Chief was received by Rear Admiral Syed Bashir Ahmad SI(M) Commandant PN War College.

Turkey decorates Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman with highest military award

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman was decorated with highest military award of Turkey.

Commander of Turkish Air Force General Hasan Aksay decorated his Pakistani counterpart with “The Legion of Merit of the Turkish Armed Forces” award at impressive ceremony in Ankara, a Pakistan Air Force press release said.

That it is, but apparently he chose to stay. Must be hard on his ego to see his junior be put ahead of him. Yet ACM Rao isnt as bad as kaleem Saadat and is well liked by his peers and juniors alike.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman calls on PM

ISLAMABAD, June 25 (APP): The Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at PM’s House on Friday.

He remained with the Prime Minister for some times and discussed matters of mutual understanding, national importance and national and regional security.
