Chief of Defence Staff, Italian Armed Forces visiting Pakistan

A high powered delegation lead by General Biagio ABRATE, Chief of Defence Staff, Italian Armed Forces, Republic of Italy, today visited Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala. General Biagio ABRATE called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). During the meeting the matters related to Professional interests and mutual cooperation came under discussion. Over all situation of Afghanistan was of particular focus during the discussions. CJCSC emphasized that stability in Pakistan is directly linked with the security situation in Afghanistan and that Pakistan is fully supportive of an Afghan led and Afghan owned reconciliation process.
General Biagio ABRATE appreciated the role played by the people and Armed Forces of Pakistan specially the efforts in fighting terrorism and thereby stabilizing the Geo-Strategic situation of the region.
On his arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters General Biagio ABRATE was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out tri service contingent.

NATO knows the importance of Pakistan in case of Afghanistan.

Exit from a war is when the aggressor forces are most vulnerable (because of reducing numbers and assets). In order for an honurable and damage free exit from Afghanistan, they know very well Pakistan holds the trump card.
