Kayani leaves for Russia

LAHORE: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani left today for Russia on one day official visit. During his visit, COAS is scheduled to meet the senior civil and military leadership of Russia.

Earlier, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was seen off at Lahore International Airport by Lieutenant General, Ejaz Ahmed Bakhshi, Corps Commander and other senior military officials.

Kayani in Russia to strengthen defence ties

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani reached Moscow on Sunday to hold talks with the Russian president, prime minister and military leadership. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, General Kayani’s one-day trip to Russia aimed at improving cooperation in defence and military fields of the two countries. Earlier, Lahore Corps Commander Lt Gen Ejaz Ahmed Bakhshi and other senior military officials saw the COAS off at the Lahore airport. According to military sources, Kayani would visit Russian military headquarters and meet the Russian defence minister, foreign minister and army chief. The visit is being given a lot of importance after President Zardari’s recent trip to Russia, where he met his Russian and Afghan counterparts.

Russia expresses desire to further strategic relations with Pakistan

Moscow: Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who is on an official visit to Russia on Monday met General Vladimir Boldyrev, Commander-in-Chief Russian groung forces. During meeting the matters of professional interest with particular reference to enhancing ties between armies of the two countries, were discussed.

COAS also called on, Chairman of Defence and Security Committee of State Duma, Victor Zavarzin and discussed with him the matters pertaining to regional security and common interest.

Chairman of Defence and Security CommitteeVictor Zavarzin expressed the Russian desire to further enhance strategic relationship with Pakistan.

Later COAS, also met deputy foreign minister of Russia. Both sides expressed the desire to seize new opportunities arising out of the current challenges confronting the region and the world.

There was a keen desire on both sides to tangibly move forward to establish a strong and robust partnership between each other.

The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also visited the tomb of unknown soldiers and laid a wreath.

COAS also attended an official Dinner hosted in his honour by General Vladimir Bolyrev, Commander in Chief Russian ground forces.




Considering our past, Gen. Musharraf's initiative has further progressed. This is by far a great leap forward in strenghtening relations between Russia and Pakistan.

The two men met at an official dinner held in Kayani’s honour and their discussion focused on enhancing ties between the armies of the two countries. The COAS also called on Russian Defence and Security Committee Chairman Victor Zavarzin and discussed matters pertaining to regional security and common interest. Jones calls on Kayani

ISLAMABAD: US National Security Adviser James Jones called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Ashfaq Kayani on Wednesday to discuss various issues of mutual interest, including the ongoing military operation against the Taliban in Malakand and the situation in Afghanistan.

Gen Kayani briefed Jones on the operation, which “is nearing its end”, and the planned South Waziristan operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud.

The US official also discussed issues related to internally displaced persons.

The two sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, and agreed on joint efforts by Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US to stabilise the war-torn country.

On the last leg of his tour, starting today (Thursday), the US national security adviser would visit India to discuss various bilateral and regional issues.

It's better for Pakistan to further enhance it's ties with both west and Russia!

I personally don't like U.S. foreign policies....they are always against Pakistani interests and beside all this americans are going too far with indians now days.:sick:

This isn't fair with Pakistan...:tsk:

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that Pakistan stands committed to global and regional peace and wishes to live in peace and harmony with all its neighbours. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 91st Mid-Shipmen Commissioning Parade here at the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA) on Friday. The COAS said that Pakistan will not enter into any arms race but will maintain balance through a strategy of minimum credible deterrence. Strong armed forces of Pakistan are guarantor of peace and stability, he added. Gen. Kayani pointed out that today Pakistan is confronted with multifaceted challenges. It is complex in its nature. Its spectrum is both diverse and intense, he said.

Kayani hosts reception for officers

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani hosted a reception for senior serving and retired armed forces officers, junior commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers at the Artillery Officers Mess as part of the Independence Day celebrations on Friday.

General (Retd) Sawar Khan, former vice-chief of army staff, was the chief guest. The Chief of Army Staff met the retired officers and men present on the occasion and inquired about their health, welfare and exchanged views on various issues.

The reception was attended by a large number of senior serving and retired officers, Junior Commissioned officers and Non Commissioned officers.

US General McChrystal calls on Gen Kayani

RAWALPINDI: General Stanley McChrystal, Commander International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and discussed important security issues and cooperation in the war on terror. Sources said the meeting held at General Headquarters (GHQ) also discussed the prevailing security situation in the Pak-Afghan border areas and the US operation in Helmand province of Afghanistan. The two men also exchanged views on the Afghan presidential elections scheduled for Thursday and agreed to cooperate to foil any attempt by the Taliban to disrupt the second presidential election in the war-ravaged country.
