Yes naxals are even bigger pain in a$$ for India than entire other insurgencies combined but one good thing is that their area of operation is very limited to the forests and some backward part of few states. Though some states have completely(or I say 95%) eliminated naxals like Andhra Pradesh and Odisha is doing good too. But at the same time Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are still lagging far behind in terms of tackling naxals. honestly speaking then our govts(both central and state) should try to address their social problems too along with using force for rough elements and so far our govt has been failed to address their problems. They are basically poor, illitrate tribals who has some social issues and they are being brainwashed by some elite, educated maoist leaders.

I have seen some Indian members arguing that Naxals don't seek independence.......so what are their demands. ?

They do not want a separate country or state or anything of that genre . . . . They want to overthrow the democratically elected GoI and put their own commie regime in place.Now obviously any sane person would know that its mere foolish to harbor such ambitions in a vibrant country like India.So it could be safely inferred that with foreign money and weapons they simply want to wreak havoc in the country.During the election season they become more active in whatever puny piece of land they have managed to take refuge in after being thrashed by the CRPF day in and out simply to scare the voters at gunpoint and forcefully trying to refrain them from casting their votes and thereby trying to give a false message the authorities that look these people have lost faith in the system and hence are not participating in the elections!!!

Since, the naxals are only active forest areas. There is no immediate threat to India's integrity. Containing them and at the same time if the govt is able to solve the problems of tribal people. Naxalites will find it tough to get resources and disintegrate on their own

Both Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are heavily forested areas and hence the authorities there are finding it difficult to tackle the situation simply owing to the geography there.

Every conflict is unique, and so is this. There are different factions which need be treated on it's own merit.
Some of the factions which are responsible for such attacks on CRPF need to be routed out with firepower, some of them need to eliminated with removing of their leadership, and some by engagement.

MUNGER: Two CRPF jawans were killed and three others injured when Maoists triggered an explosive, when they were on way to a polling station in Jamui parliamentary constituency of Bihar early morning, police said.

CRPF and Bihar Police team were travelling in two jeeps when the Maoists triggered an IED planted under the bridge they were crossing, near Sawa Lakh Baba Mandir at the entrance of Bhimbandh jungle, DSP Khargpur Ranjan Kumar told PTI.

The two CRPF jawans succumbed to their injuries on way to a hospital while the three other injured were taken to the Sadar Hospital in Munger district, about 170km from state capital Patna.

The incident took place at around 5:30 am, one and a half hour before the start of polling in Jamui (SC, reserved) constituency.

LJP President Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag Paswan is in the fray from the Jamui parliamentary constituency against Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary of JD (U) and Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhaskar of RJD.

Six parliamentary constituencies of Bihar, including Jamui are going to polls in the first phase of the elections in the state today.

All six — Jamui, Aurangabad, Sasaram, Gaya, Nawada and Karakat are located in the Naxal-affected areas in the state.

Maoists had earlier given a call for a poll boycott.
