Chery launches the most powerful engine of China in line with world-class core technologies

The orbital combustor?

We talked about this before, nah not that...(though that is a seriously interesting concept which I hope contains some answers for big breakthroughs and it was pretty awesome when you brought it to my attention to refresh my memory).

I'm more in the how do we massage/extract the most (somewhat incrementally) from what we got largely in place/established already :D.

Revolutionary concepts like orbital combustor needs a lot more RnD (akin to what ramjets/scramjets do as well or how much RnD PW put into its geared turbofan).

After all even with conventional combustor improvement, we have to keep in mind and balance so many things....because yes you can increase turbulence (for better combustion and turbine feed)....but it comes at a cost of fluid pressure drop (which is bad thing) among other issues....so I don't even want to think the amount of iterative RnD a dynamically forced turbulence system like orbital combustor would involve....probably explode my head if i delved on it heh. It may also be why its more behind the scenes for the most part compared to when it popped into the news (just like that home fusion concept model lockheed put out a year or two ago)....somewhere someone's (well hopefully more than one poor SOB) hopefully started the non-sexy part of churning out the numbers and actual engineering to see how it can be viably implemented in the real physical world. :P

This is the engine developed by Changan for its latest SUV model, CS95, Blue Core 2.0. TDC, direct injection booster engine.

So, max power 171Kw, torque 360N.m (1750-3500rpm), 1250 RBP can achieve 245N. At the supercharged mode, it can go up to 380N.m. torque. 1500rpm could achieve 80% torque.

That's the SUV in question.
