They don't have the best cancer treatment facilities. They lack many of the targeted (highly localized) cancer killing radiation and chemotheraphy techniques that are now common in the USA. Also they lack the routine use of state-of-the art imaging systems, such as positron emission tomography, which are important to monitoring the progress of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. If you have cancer, the best place for treatment is the USA.

i agree with you on USA. but for a country like cuba they have spent quiet a lot of effort to develop their medical facilities & they have been inventing some good stuff for cancer treatment & some of the treatments they have developed may not be known to us at all..

If chemotherapy saved the lives of 1 in 10 for a certain cancer type, as compared to 0 in 10 survivors among those who receive no treatment, would you call chemotherapy "effective"? Chemotherapy does help some cancer patients, perhaps, however, not even a majority of patients. On the other hand, no treatment helps none. Chemotherapy is unpleasant. It is a tough decision. Do I try chemotherapy in the oft chance I may be helped, even though I will be miserable? Or do I let the disease take it's natural course. Most patients opt for the chance to survive and take the chemotherapy.

I'd just like to say that chemotherapy is the only effective countermeasure against diffuse cancers and metastasizing cancers. Surgery of course is preferable if safe, because it takes out the whole problem in 1 shot, and radiation is good to kill off unaccessible but localized cancers.
