One needs to bear in mind where those events started in the first place.

It was Bhutto leading the juggernaut of Socialism in the form of "Roti - Kapra - Makan".

It was him who started the slide by not accepting the election outcome and then then the resultant Army action and the war.

It is better to keep the events in the sequence as they happened.

genocide!!! genocide was what bengalis did to biharis and west Pakistanis. it pains my heart that nobody ever talk about the crimes and actual genocide commited by Muktis and bengali mobs.
pakistan army did kill people in some places in retribution but that was nothing compare to what bengalis hhad already started even before launch of operation search light on 25 Mar 71. As a matter of fact it was started to crush these murderous mobs but unfortunately it was too late by then.

I dislike going into half glass full half empty debates. There is one history which we read in our Pak studies and the other one the world narrates to us in a chorus. Lets be flexible in our thoughts and stop another tragedy to repeat in the future.

i dont know what is written in Pak studies , plz leave this rhetoric of criticizing pak studies. Read "dead reckoning" by none other than an indian , a west bengali journalist sharmila bose, their are tons of other unbiasd accounts if you really want to learn facts and history but if you are yourself biased (as it seems) nothing will convince you.

What you are saying are the mistakes made in the history, and hence the country suffered.

Who decides? is not limited one organization. It is a very complex scenario.

Good thing is that, with time, institutions have learnt the lesson and have performed better in the recent years.

I agree Bhutto was a shrewd genius. He instrumented masses in Ayubs Ouster that led to Yahya khan.The later was the most inept ruler of our history. The Establishment did not forget this and put the whole onus of East Pakistan debacle on him. He did some good moves to please them but their mind was made up.They used Qoumi ittehad to wage a phoney islamic movement and vote rigging issue to undermine him, the rest is our dark history.

Yahya wasn’t inept but disinterested. He wanted the power and womanizing that came with the role but nothing else.
While Ayub sowed seeds of ethnic discord in Pakistan overall and in Karachi ; Bhutto watered them for his benefit.. effectively assisting the breakup of Pakistan.
