what was the reason for the near monopoly of Suzuki for these past few decades? why wouldn't Pakistan want European brands to offer domestic production. I never understood why Pakistan only made Suzukis.

The main reason behind success of suzuki ,toyota and honda in pakistan is their duribility and availability of spares in local markeet.
Suzuki will not be finnished.reason????
Low cost spares and maintinence.
People are still deeply in love with suzuki fx.
Get a rusty car worth 30 to 40k
Spend 70 to 80 k on it and it will be ready again .
Same goes with mehran.
Thats just an example.suzuki spares are too cheap and available almost everywwhere.

Toyota is famous for its duribility.people trust this brand though quality of Pakistan assembled and japan/ thailand assembled is very different.
Toyota jeeps and pickups are No1 choice in armed forces because there is simply no company for competition
One example is Sigma motor/land Rover.
It sold jeeps in pakistan but you need to have a healthy bank accound to maintain them.
Low quality.
Very expensive and rarely available spareparts.
Very difficult to work
No brand will be successful unless they follow suzuki or toyota model.
