“We continue to have conversations with the Indian leadership. We are working to hold Russia accountable for its behaviour and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said these sanctions are not intended to adversely impact countries like India. They are designed to impact Russia”, she said.


So if they want to stop Russia selling, I would like to know how India would get it from the manufacturer?

I am not interested in what options India will have, but one thing is clear, master is demanding India to completely cut Iranian oil and shape up against China.

Her words are entirely mean for public release. But other than that it has little significance or meaning.

Fact is no US official can afford to appear lenient to Iran in public hence such statements are issued but behind the scenes they have agreed to Indian demands on Chabahar. Even regarding Iranian Oil imports India managed to agree US to only a 40-50% cut and not 100% that US demanded.

Thing is, its not just Iran, they are not very impressed seeing Indian capitulation on receiving the Chinese Kung Fu kick, they want India to shape up against China mainly. The era of ambiguity and playing for both sides is coming to an end. As per Modi, Ruppee patla kiyoon ho raha hai, these are all arm twisting tactics, India needs to get used to the demands of being "strategic partner" of America.

Alice G. Wells, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, said in a conference call with journalists on Monday that restrictions also apply to investments in Iran’s Chahbahar port, a project built with India’s cooperation.

Ms Wells – who was briefing journalists on the two-plus-two talks between the US and India, held in New Delhi on Sept 6 – said there was no “blanket waiver or country-specific waiver” from US sanctions on trading with or investing in Iran.
