Rebuffing perceptions that the Chabahar Port jointly developed by India and Iran, is being viewed as a counter to Gwadar Port, developed by China in Pakistan, Advisor to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Sheikholeslam on Tuesday said the port is for everyone and would benefit every other country including Pakistan.

“The relations between India and Iran are not against everyone, they are for everyone. Chabahar will no doubt help Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and India and we do not mind at Pakistan and China using Chabahar, it is better that they use it. We are encouraging them to use for the benefit of Balochistan and Pakistan,” Sheikholeslam told ANI.

When asked about India and Iran’s role in Afghanistan, Sheikholeslam said, “Afghan’s future and security should be determined by them. We, India and others, should help them. Some countries try to use Afghanistan in their internal politics. This would harm them. America came and it did not help them. We should assist them.”

Talking about the growing significance of India-Iran relations Sheikholeslam said, “In the Iran nuclear crisis we had with America, India stood behind us and in issues like in Afghanistan, we have tried to help India. We have tried to bring energy to this country, of course you pay for it, but we want to reliable provider to India. Security of energy is much more important than any other aspects. We tried to be good buyer and seller. I think these relations will develop more and more.”

Does Pakistan have any need/urge to use Chabahar port? I don't think so. What benefit we will get by using Chabahar port when we have already Gwadar and direct connectivity with CARs ?

My dear Pak Friend,

SCO+OBOR (CPEC)+EEU = Eurasian Century

Iran needs both China and Russia for its very survival or at least the current regime thinks that way.

Of late the Iranians have been trying to woo Pak a bit. Yet gas prices are an extortion.

There is no replacing CPEC.

Gawadar is just one great part of it. Please, SEE the entire picture.

I must say without reserve that I can not percieve the Iranians. It is opaque system for me. What do they really want is unclear for me at least.

Nevertheless, for a truly Eurasian Dynamic to emerge and sustain itself countries in SCO, EEU and OBOR/CPEC framework need all their economic and geopolitical policies to be aligned.

I have nothing against indiaans as human beings..they are as human as I am. It is just that they have never been constructive and are essentially imperiaal in mental bend, driving strength through numbers and landmass. Masters of double speak, they are.

So this Iranian port is of little consequence as the volume of trade going through it and its capacity to handle tonnage is rather limited.

Gawadar links Central Asia, Russia, Africa, South America and ME, plus Europe by sea routes with Sino-Pak Axis.

Kashmiri apples in Europe through either land or by sea = CPEC.

Volume is the name of the game. Gawadar can handle Volume.

I would however treat these pleasant words from the honourable Iranian functionary with care. Persians are Ancient people just like Paks!

My advice would be less haste and more speed. Less words and more Actions from Pak State and its political class.

You must become who you truly are....a great regionl power of global consequence. For that kindly achieve a GDP of at least €4 Trillion.

Go for it!

GCC nations are aware that Pakistan have involved Chinese in the Kashmir issue.

Indian nation and Arab nation have fought together against colonialism. Vande Mataram Movement and Senussi Movement were having common goal.

Lolz you are talking about 1940's . gcc wont let Pakistan go at the iranian side at any cost :) .

.
Iran's opacity is due to the realities of having to work around a Western world trying it's best to hurt them. And with Trump in the White House, this will only increase.

Chabahar may have it's use if there is a stable government in Kabul which values this alternate trade route and does not want to depend on Pak/China. Otherwise it is redundant.
