Chabahar : EPIC FAIL for India , Iran and Afghanistan

Is the Gawadar port complete? How much goods in tons has the port seen?
There is difference , you are comparing an elephant with the cat. Gawadar is mega project and when it start rubbing the land , you will feel the friction.

India wanted a land route access to Afghanistan so she can send so-called civil help to his Afghan brothers. Now that Americans are leaving Afghanistan, India is leaving too, with that Chabahar become worthless automatically.

“The inclusion of the port in the Free Zone is expected to boost the cargo through the port,” Arun Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of India Ports Global Ltd (IGPL), told BusinessLine.

India Ports Global is a fully owned by Sagarmala Development Company Ltd, a company controlled by the Shipping Ministry.

The trade is also upbeat with the announcement that Ghazanfar Bank of Afghanistan will soon open a branch in Chabahar, Gupta said. “It is understood that the bank has received requisite permit from Central Bank of Iran,” he added.

India Ports Global started operations from two berths at Shahid Beheshti Port of Chabahar on December 25, 2018 and has since handled container, bulk cargo, livestock and heavy lift cargo vessels.

“Transit of export consignment from Afghanistan through Chabahar commenced in February 2019 as a trickle but has now started showing a healthy upward trend. On June 30, the IPGL terminal loaded 76 twenty-foot equivalent units or TEUs (all refrigerated) for India. This is a record single loading and is a milestone in growth path of Shahid Behesti Port of Chabahar, Gupta stated.

On June 28, the port also handled the fourth consignment (300 TEUs) of wheat cargo from India to Afghanistan. This is part of the 75,000 tonnes of wheat that India is supplying to Afghanistan as humanitarian aid.

dil ko bahlane ko ye khayal acha hai.
you guys don't care about Muslims of your country why would you do that for vahshi afghans who attacked and looted your country in the past according to RSS history.
indian game is over in Afghanistan whether American leave or not Pakistan is securing her border with every passing day and we are hunting your dogs like never before.

Karachi port is up and running. People forgot that fact.

Iran has a large market share of Afghanistan domestic market. Indians assume Iranian exporters will give up market share due to "friendship" with modi. Inregards to central asia, China, Pakistan and Iran have road links to this market. Once nepali road to China is built, chinese goods will flood through Nepalese border into india.

India can connect to "Australia" via Chabahar port....

On a serious note, thanks to the aggressive US postures at the South China Sea, Gwadar, CPEC etc. have gained the importance of a "life-line" for China! With Iran-China trade volume going higher I am pretty sure the Chinese will have a talk with Iran over the Indian plans, especially at the backdrop of the recent "winner takes it all" scenario in the Himalayas.....

Why Chabahar is not feasible? Care to explain?

Chabahar is not feasible in terms of only Indian good traveling to Afghanistan. As you know Afghan requirements are not huge. However IMO if the CAR states use it too then it would be feasible.

lol India keeps giving afgonistan high hopes of becoming regional super power with their export of state of the art opium facilities.

Gwadar will have it's own airport, economic zone and is built to serve Pakistan, Afghanistan, CAR and Xianjiang. All Chabahar has is Afghanistan which is not a big enough market for it to be economically viable..

all that phand pona from india and its forum minions. what was stopping them from the project.

It will be a mistake to add Afghanistan or Iran in CPEC , can not trust them both ..

Afghanistan is not a megastate or a megaeconomy to deserve a megaport
