1) credit must be given to ECP for the brave work.

2) yeah one thread will be good. or one thread for one party otherwise this section will just .........

PML-N holds back ticket announcement for fear of backlash

NADEEM SYED 44 min ago | Comments (0)

LAHORE -
With deadline for filing nomination papers expiring today (Sunday), major parties have failed to announce tickets for major districts leaving the aspirants high and dry.

In Lahore, the PML-N remained indecisive and fell far short of announcing tickets for aspirants from major districts of the province.

Party sources said the Sharifs, in order to preempt defections from the party, were keeping decisions on the ticket for the eleventh hour.

Another senior leader said the party leadership deliberately withheld decisions to cool down angry workers protesting day in and day out against party’s selection process.

Insiders said the PML-N had deferred the announcement of tickets for Lahore, Gujrawala and Faisalabad while announcing tickets to candidates from DG Khan, Sheikhupura and Sarghodha on Saturday.

Surprisingly, Nawaz Sharif did not award tickets to the Leghari brothers, sons of former president Farooq Leghari.

It has been learnt that the PML-N parliamentary board would meet on Tuesday to take up the remaining districts, especially Lahore.

Meanwhile, the party high-ups have asked all aspirants to file nomination papers on their own for the time being, exposing those candidates to the scrutiny of Election Commission who stand less chances of getting tickets.

Political analysts say the dithering over award of tickets would spoil the precious time of candidates, which he should otherwise spend in the constituency.

Following the filing of nominations, ECP will start scrutiny of the candidates’ papers. This would be followed by a phase in which a candidate could file appeals and resort to withdrawal of his candidacy papers.

On April 17 he could produce party ticket before ECP and in return would be allotted party symbol.

The party sources expect quick decision-making once the deadline for nomination paper lapses.

Politicians say parties only had time to firm up their decisions before April 17.

“The leadership has everything in mind especially whom to award ticket. They are just avoiding backlash from those not likely to get a ticket. Hence they are buying time,” another insider revealed.

Ch Nisar - Homo with a fake degree .. lol

PS: Ch Nisar is an ACTUAL homo not just the proverbial one

OOOOOOKAAY!
Are you sure it was him because bent-over, catching an upside down jerky glimps of your active/top you could've easily confused someone else with him... maybe it was Rowan Atkinson?
Just sayin!

What's with the degree thing? Don't these guys think about their actions when they submit fake degrees ??

Still, I would like to see some minimum education level being set on candidacy/nomination. While it is true that good intentions do not need educational backgrounds, but understanding crucial amendments and bills does.

How does an illiterate judge whether to vote yes or no for something he barely understands ??

What do you guys think ?

.
^^ agreed. legislators must be educated otherwise how would u expect them to legislate in a proper manner taking into consideration both the domestic and international requirements?
however, when it comes to local bodies etc i do not see much need for a formal education. a wise person with understanding of his area can properly carry out the development work in his area. that is my view.

This would exclude a large part of population from contesting elections. The Power would not lie with all but with few graduates who may or, may not be the true representatives. Such restrictions should be applied in developed countries not in our region where the literacy rate is shameful.

And as much as understanding crucial amendments and bills are concerned, how many graduates actually understand everything about the Bills. Bureaucrats are there to guide them. Plus dont forget that Parliamentarians toe the line of their parties.

Not entirely true. Pakistan has hundreds of thousands of graduates with at least some understanding of what goes on in politics and of the effects of their vote.
So out of millions of deserving candidates, these parties could only find this gene pool of thugs and crooks ??

I agree with ajpirzada on local bodies and administration. In depth knowledge is not always required here, but the National Assembly and the government institutions are completely different, hence my opinion about the importance of sound educational history.
