Cern physicists say they have found a Higgs boson

@gubbi @Cherokee

Thanks for taking time to answer my question :) Well , your answers have cleared it a little for me ... I mean " God's particle " was a astonishing term , at least I got the elementary particle thing right , I mean it is everything to matter ... What are the next aims and objectives ?

There is no such thing as "God Particle" and they wont find it...Thats for sure...

Yeah , Scientists and Governments and Private Investors pouring in money like water and keeping finest people occupied in this research must have been so stupid not to realize what you did . Kudos .

on contrary to popular belief...CERN has many more research projects than finding just the higgs boson...
Higgs boson is just one of their projects..

Pakistan isnt a signatory of CERN ... how come Pakistanis ended up there?

and you may try to read the article before posting the link...
It only says that an already dead Pakistani scientist Dr.Abdussalam's research in the 70's was a contributing factor towards postulation of Higg's theory..
Its another thing that Mr.Higgs proposed his Boson theory in 1962,but Dr.Salam's work was done in the 70's...
How the bloogger you mention here came to the conclusion..i have no idea

And?
Abdus salam was a Pakistani citizen, if not a Muslim....

They even named the street on his name.

Co-operation with Pakistan was pioneered by CMS, and has expanded continuously over the past 15 years to include ALICE and ATLAS as well as to the accelerator sector (SPL (Linac4) and CLIC), making Pakistan a significant partner for CERN.
For CMS, Pakistan built the Magnet feet, contributed to the Tracker alignment, and built and installed 320 Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC), as well as contributing to CMS computing, the WLCG and data analysis. Pakistan has also built various mechanical components for ATLAS and for the LHC.

That's how.....arguably the contribution is more on the crude side, but it is still there!
