I wonder if this is the Indian media at it again. A few months ago the indian media whipped themselves into a frenzy over allegations of corruption relating to India, these allegations were proved to be 100% false and unsubstantiated and investigators were left scratching their heads as to where these allegations had even come from or what they were based on. If there was even the hint of mal-practice in the AW-101 deal does anyone really think the MoD would have just gone through with the deal??!! Please- today if there is an ounce of truth in allegations a deal is stalled indefinitely or cancelled outright- look at the effingh RSH/LUH deal for God's sake!
it turned out there seemed to be no Indian connection to these allegations and the investigation centered solely in Italy/Europe. Once again, from this news, there doesn't seem to be an actual Indian connection but because the AW-101 has passed the media are jumping to conclusions.
This still looks like an internal matter for the Italians.
I will not come to any conclusion just yet. Corruption takes many forms. "Padding a deal" to incorporate pay-offs (in the form of speed-money) is one of them. The product in question otherwise has no flaws or is suitable.
I call that "Skimming"; which is different from "Scamming".
"Scamming" involves payments/graft to induce purchase of something inferior/unsuitable.
The Bofors Howitzer deal involved "Skimming" not "Scamming". Because it was a good enough product by itself.
Most corruption in Defence Deals involves "Skimming". Let us see what else surfaces during the ensuing investigations in Italy.

The first of these Italian-made helicopters have already arrived in India. These choppers are meant to fly the President, Prime Minister and other important dignitaries.
Yes it could well turn out to be a case similar to Walmart Lobbying case.
Let us all wait for investigation on Italian side to complete and true picture to emerge before drawing conclusions.
PS Would be interesting to see tonight's Times Now 9.00 pm show, Arnab may go ballistic on the issue
What? These people dont like to fly in incredibly indigenous Dhruv?
Nothing moves in India without bribes - fact of life!
GOVERNMENT VVIP
The AW101 is the largest helicopter in its class and sets new standards for safety, comfort, economy and capability with a cabin for 30 passengers plus a rear baggage bay. A 1.83 m high cabin providing stand up head room and low levels of vibrations, due to an active vibration reduction system, make the AW101 the best helicopter for VIP and Heads of State transport applications. The AW101 provides the customer with a limitless range of layout options with seating for 10 to 30 passengers and an extensive list of options for safety, security and entertainment systems.
To do corruption and not getting caught is an Art. The CEO should have learned it from our Italian Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.
Arnab can go ballistic just like that, for no particular reason. He is India's "Unguided Ballistic Missile".
New Recruit
Dude this time things are a bit twisted. Italy arrested the CEO of Finnemeca from Milan after conducting it's own investigation and found out that kickbacks were given to India. So now one investigation will be carried Out by India too.I wonder if this is the Indian media at it again. that's sad.. corruption is surely making India a risky place to deal with.
