The Centre has warned cable television operators in the newly-formed union territory of Jammu & Kashmir from broadcasting any content from private TV channels based in Muslim nations like Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Malaysia.

As per an advisory issued by the Union Ministry for Information & Broadcasting, an exclusive copy of which is available with India Today TV, cable TV operators have been reminded of their obligations under the Cable TV Rules.

The note reads, It has come to the notice of this Ministry that some private channels which are not permitted by this Ministry are being transmitted by some cable operators on their networks. This is a clear violation of the sub-rules 6(6) under Cable TV Rules under Programme code and needs to be acted upon immediately.

The advisory, which is signed by Vikram Sahay, joint secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has warned cable TV operators that if they violate the rules they could face punitive action including withdrawal of license/permission and confiscation of equipment. Sahay, in fact, was in Srinagar recently to meet with cable TV operators.

Cable TV operators had suffered reverses in business after the clampdown on television services, among others, in wake of the August 5 abrogation of Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir. The lockdown on broadcasting was subsequently lifted on August 20.

Lol signs of desperation and insecurity

These steps are only taken when things are totally out of control and people are completely rejecting your version.
We never said that muslims are accepting my version. It is only being said that - "it is my way or the highway"

Indians better prepare the US officials for next congressional hearing. Its not going smooth so far.

.
India is like an abuser, now even stopping Kashmiri people watching TV. There really is some severe insecurity with them thinking some foreign dramas are even anti national.

Pakistan banned Indian channels right?

. .
Yep, but did you read the article? You banned Malaysian & Iranian TV channels, is the insecurity that bad?
I don't see Iranian, Turkish or Malaysian channels in cable. Only some European channels (mostly news) are allowed to broadcast in India.

J&K had special laws that did not have any regulations on content. Now laws are same throughout Jammu and Kashmir as other states like mine. There is no insecurity here, just enforcing laws.

I don’t know why European cable shows so many Indian channels, when they just peddle race hate for minorities, they should do what India does and ban all but a few.

No TV shows in India peddle hate for minorities. We don't have an eternal hate for any people, be it Muslims or Christians or jews and whoever else out there.
We will decide on what we can broadcast through our cable. No Turkey, Saudi/iran or Malaysia.
