CDA may start ‘Orange Line’ in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The city’s managers may start an ‘Orange Line’ track in the federal capital, the first rail-based mass rapid transit system in the city.

The proposed line will start from Rawat and end at Peshawar Mor where it will be connected to the metro bus track.

An official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that Islamabad mayor and acting CDA chief Sheikh Anser Aziz, Member Planning Asad Mehboob Kayani and other officers on Saturday went to Lahore to get information about the Lahore orange line project.

They are said to have inspected various stations of the Orange Line project and obtained details of the project from the concerned authority.

The mayor has been making attempts for launching a transport project but the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad does not have funds.

“We did visit Lahore to inspect the Orange Line project and the mayor has been using his office for starting some project in Islamabad,” said Mr Kayani, who also holds acting charge as chief metropolitan officer.

He said various transport projects have been funded under CPEC and that the federal capital has not yet received any such funds.

“We will request the federal government to include this project in CPEC,” he said.

you just google orange colored train and this shows up . ours are nothing but cheap trinkets or crap from china and now these ganja wanted to make straight train lines to do corruption . no proper plan of underground or above ground railways or anything .

Cda is total messed up and need major overhaul.

No proper planning and poor state of roads and parks and over grown grass everywhere.

Islamabad highway is not expanded yet after spending more than 3 years and if cda start this project of rail if will take decades to complete yet it is the urgent need to have mass transport

Please don't destroy Islamabad more than you already have

They're not looking after what's already there, look at the condition of public places, roads, streets, signals, street lights, sidewalks and green belts. Residents of Islamabad can't access parts of their own city due to absence of proper public transport but anyone from far flung Rawat, Fateh Jang and Rawalpindi can, it doesn't make sense. All these projects bring in huge number of local tourists and at the end of the day, Islamabad's residents have to pay for the damage done. Here people are suffering from Water Crisis which should be addressed on priority basis but no, first let us make a metro train so people from miles away can rejoice. It's our national capital and the current government have made sure our first impression is the filthiest.

I agree but its better than nothing like in zardari 5 years .. at least think in a positive way.. they can take all the money into their pockets and build nothing... water crisis should also be fixed every one should meet with people who are in charge of this matter and ask them through writing applications and fix it.. ghar main beth ke tu nahi ho ga..

If written complaints could accomplish anything, CDA would be building miracles. Maybe you don't know but during Zardari's tenure, the capital was well taken care of and not littered with unnecessary projects for the sake of vote bank. The capital remained clean and green. After losing to Asad Umar, CAD was enforced on the people to restrict our public representative's role. Come visit PIMS or Poly Clinic and you'll never complain of India being a dirty country. I'd have been in favor of metro train had it benefited the locals, instead it's going to overburden the already restricted resources and contribute to the destruction of one beautiful, green city. I can list a hundred more issues that are more important than building a public transport for even Islamabad's own residents.

Pakistan is being held ransom to these trains, trams and tunnel mafias.
Priority should be given to health and education.

We face huge issues like carbon emission and our forests are being destroyed and yet we are hell bent on making these Orange Purle Magenta Lines.

Islamabad should be made into a green city. A smart city.
Lahore has a ring road. Replace that with a circular railway and reduce the problem of traffic.
Karachi is a mess. It needs a circular railway and a tram line instead of putting more wheels on the road.
