Looks like Military Schools are closing down in Turkey..
My dreams are now gone, Always wanted to be an Officer in the Turkish Armed Forces.
Mate, think of it like. Military high schools are being closed.

However "Harp okulları" will be reformed and continue. They will be like universities. You still can be an officer.

Turkish shipyard industry showed it can export dozens of military ships. unlike our military shipyards which they also didnt miss deadlines. If they were given chance to produce milgem corvets and frigates there is no doubt in my mind they would have excel their jobs just like all the other privately owned military contractors aka Kale vs Mke, or Baykal, Aselsan, Tai.

Lets not exaggerate shipyards task, After all they are not a lot different than big Assembly plants. Real jobs is done at engineering/design companies, kardemir and Aselsan etc.

Also Lets not forget, Publicly owned companies tried to leaked indigenous projects like mpt76. And Milgem's design stolen at this coup attempt. There is more than enough reason to change something at military shipyards.

All the exported "ships" wasnt a combatant but it was a patrol boat (YTKB) and bunch of boats from Yonca-Onuk. The employers of the private shipyard will "have to be trained" in military shipyards. Yet the only indigenous ship is Ada class at the moment, impossible to talk about " failed exports" . Keep in mind, Gölcük Shipyards produces, repairs the submarines which private company has a single crunch of idea about submarines? Simply none.

The design belongs to state, not to a company so private shipyard is handicapped against navy shipyards.

All the private shipyards except Yonca Onuk was once assisted by Navy shipyards to be trained. And all of them had the delivery postponed by 1 year at least. Building a combatant takes 36-42 months, no matter where you produce but the matter is quality

The airforce or any branch of army has their own maintenance center, TAI produces something but its overhauled in repair stations of army. Yet, the private shipyards will build navy ships and they will be overhauled in Navy shipyards

No its not stolen, even a single person from Milgem Design Office hasnt supported the Coup, The Navy or Naval Force doesnt have full construction plan of Milgem.

- I am aware of complexity of building submarines that's whole another thing

- I am not saying naval shipyards shouldn't do overhaul activities. That's all they should But Unless Navy doesn't support private sector they can't get into international or national corvet/frigate business. All the countries who is exporting frigates did that in the past. That's how they are gonna learn produce and design heavy military ships. And They sure are willingly want this. Since that's is where the profit is compare to civil ship building.

- Kardemir produces all the steel for milgem and Lpd which is one of the big chunk of money goes. Probably biggest single local subcontractor.

- Unfortunately Milgem's designs stolen. That's unfortunate fact. This rumour is even shared online.

Navy doesn't support private sector
Navy has given a decade for private sector, negotiated with shipyard owners again and again to spare some money for R&D and training their employers to be qualified and completing certificated and attending to building in Navy shipyards. None of shipyards has done it unless they got the project in the company. Navy is whom keeping whole shipbuilding industry up, Dimdeg, LPD, MoShip/Ratship, Modernizations, Coast Guard ships. Except of combatant the whole of the rest is given to private shipyards, let them show themselves in market of support class and proving the ability before handling a combatant.

Rumour is shared online, not the project. The whole project gets about terabytes stored in offline servers, who is gona leak it out? A few brokenly scaled, non dimensioned blue prints doesnt mean anything for a whole project "those even were taken by camera, and the papers were printed out for use in shipyard seems like retrieved from junk, is it really called a leak? . Yet there is nothing done about in the last coup.

That's all they should
No , a naval shipyard should be responsible about prototype, and flow of the project in private companies and should participate in whole design stage. Those people are whom trained to build naval ships, combatants which is not similar with commercial ships at all

Saying that the project is stolen in the last coup, worths a negative vote. Talking biased, as if so sure like seen by your eyes

ts just that everybody is awakened and from now on telling more stories that are real will just have bad impacts on the Armed Forces' reputation which is already very fragile and demotivated right now because of the traitors inside our ranks.

It seems ok so far. I am to be heading back home at November. After arrival I am planning to open a case in the court in the wake of the recent events and ask to return of my honors (iade-i itibar) and a compensation for the fee I had to pay when leaving, the money I had previously spent on lawyers, the abuse of rights. It seems its gonna be even busier than here :)

I can call the sun"purple" and say it is a fact......A random internet guy's crazy ideas doesn't have to be a fact for the rest of us.

@isoo Bro, I want to pit a question to you on the construction of Naval Vessels. We have such strategic assets in that all of our shipyards are concentrated in close proximity of each other (Istanbul). Yet, we don't utilise the yards as I believe we should. For Instance BAE SYSTEMS constructs blocks from many of their shipyards around UK and ships them to a central shipyard to be assembled, reduces construction time and spreads wealth all around the UK.. Plus no one gets the full blueprints of the ship in construction.

If SSM could get private shipyards to weld blocks and have them assembled at Naval Yard it would in IMO be advantageous on many levels..

Liked the idea. Germans did a similar thing in WW2, to produce U-boats....and they have been able to produce over 400 U-boats within a few years.

But are you sure that we are not utilizing such a system....i remember a company named "Gürdesan" producing the blocks for U-214TN and delivering them to Naval Yard.

If they are that's great, they should expand it to more projects.. Especially LHD being constructed.

Bro, the main issue is basic employers, who is welding, cutting steel, engineers who is building up blocks isnt qualified enough to handle steel type used in combatant construction. Also the construction details more complex than commercial or support class vessels.
The aim of istanbul class is this, training the employers and engineers in other shipyards.

Lets say, pendik shipyard has a sensitivity of 1/100, they aware of it while assembling. But bringing blocks from other shipyards will have a variety of sensitivity, leading to uncompatible assemblies. In UK there is no such problem because the shipyards ensure a good sensitivity.

Also, the steel cut and welding occupies 2,3 months or less approximately. The real work is assembly and block building .
Maybe for larger ships it becomes better to do so.
